I cant see myself as a Republican and it confuses me to see people making under $100 thousand a year could even think about being a republican. The Republican party seems to be about big business and God help the average citizen. They cried for years about the Democrats out of control spending, to help the needy, and what do they do. They take over the House and the Senate and spending has been the most ever. The bad thing about this is that, it does not help the average citizen, it helps big business and the person making over $100 thousand a year. So I'm really confused when the average citizen calls himself a Republican. Now I understand to a degree, why the right wing Christians are all over this party. They want to reverse roe vs wade and they feel that the republican party will give them that. But once again, if you're poor to middle class, then you are hurting yourself and guess what? You're being used.
I use to call myself a Democrat but now I just dont know. In the late 80's and early 90's when they ran the House and the Senate you found a lot of people there being jailed for doing something wrong, involving money, just as the Republicans are going through the same thing right now. The Democrats made promises and never ment to keep them, but always said, we'll get around to it later. They over spent, but never like the Republicans are doing now. This war that I feel was a big mistake are now being embrace by Sen. Clinton and others, instead of trying to find a way out of this mess. We can never win this type of war.
I look at the war in Iraq this way. When we leave Iraq or if we ever leave Iraq, they will have a fundamentalist Islamic Government, similar to Iran. Women would have no rights, no matter what our president tells us. I feel that a civil war would start between the Shiites and the Sunni people of Iraq. The terrorist would still be there and causeing all kinds of problems for that country. Iran is right next door to support whom ever they wish.
Now how can I feel good about these two parties, that got us in this mess in the first place. No matter how you look at it, both Republicans and Democrats gave this nut George Bush, free will to go over to Iraq and cause over 2000 deaths, Lord knows how many disabled and this war has cost our country way over $300 billion and we are still spending.
We've heard all kinds of reasons as to why we went to war with Iraq, but now I feel that the only reason we went to war, was because Bush, had all those neocons whispering in his ear and those good old boys, oil rich friends wanting to get their hands on that black gold, thatTexas tea.
We need a third party that works for the best interest of the people of the United States. Not a party that only helps the well off and big business or a party that dont seem to have the nerve to stand up for what they believe and let another party walk all over them for fear of being called non patriot. We, the average American citizens, need a for the People party!

You should check out the Green Party. I felt the same way you do back in 2002 and that's when I joined the Greens. There is much more to our party than environmentalism.
Just a thought.
