The House voted 265-159 to expand the State Children's Health Insurance Program, or SCHIP. You would think that all Democrats in the Congress voted for said bill.
Guess again, there were eight (8), Congresspersons who voted against said bill. They are listed below:
Kathy Castor (D-FL)--Washington, D.C. Office (202)225-3376--Tampa, FL Office (813)871-2817.
Jim Marshall (D-GA)--Washington, D.C. Office (202)225-6531; Macon, GA Office 1-877-464-0255; Tifton, GA Office (229)556-7418.
Baron Hill (D-IN)--Washington, D.C. Office (202)225-5315; Jeffersonville, IN Office (812)288-3999; Bloomington, IN Office (812)336-3000.
Gene Taylor (D-MS)--Washington, D.C. Office (202)225-5772; Bay St. Louis, MS Office (228)469-9235; Gulfport, MS Office (228)864-7670; Ocean Springs, MS Office (228)872-7950; Hattiesburg, MS Office (601)582-3246; Laurel, MS Office (601)425-3905. Jeezy Creezy, how many freakin' offices does this guy need?
Bob Etheridge (D-NC)--Washington, D.C. Office (202)225-4531; Raleigh, NC Office (919)829-9122 or 1-888-262-6202; Lillington, NC Office (910)814-0335 or 1-866-384-3743.
Mike McIntyre (D-NC)--Washington, D.C. Office (202)225-2731; Lumberton, NC Office (910)735-0610; Fayetteville, NC Office (910)323-0260; Wilmington, NC Office (910)815-4959; Bolivia, NC Office (910)253-0158. Jeezy Creezy again.
Dennis Kucinich (D-OH)--Washington, D.C. Office (202)225-5871; Lakewood, OH Office (216)228-8850; Parma, OH Office (440)845-2707.
Dan Boren (D-OK)--Washington, D.C. Office (202)225-2701; Muskogee, OK Office (918)687-2533; Claremore, OK Office (918)341-9336; McAlester, OK Office ((918)423-5951.
Tomorrow our President will most certainly veto this bill and send it back to the House. To overturn a presidential veto, both chambers of Congress must produce two-thirds majorities. The 159 House votes opposing the SCHIP bill should give Bush enough cushion to sustain his veto, as House leaders expect few members to switch positions. Pelosi and the House needs 290 votes to override President Bush's veto.
Here's a video taken from Fox News about the SCHIP program and the veto by President Bush on Tuesday.
The bill would cover four million children, in addition to the 6.6 million already enrolled. The overwhelming majority of those on the rolls are in low-income families.
The bill will renew the child health program for five years, with a total of $60 billion, which is $35 billion more than the current level of spending. The additional cost would be financed by increasing the federal excise tax on cigarettes by 61 cents, to $1 a pack.
Dennis Kucinich explains his vote by saying the bill doesn't adequately address the needs of legal immigrant children, so he's going to deny healthcare coverage to a few million other children. Which brings up another question in the debate for SCHIP.
The children of parents here illegally are beings discussed by Republicans and Democrats as shown on the below video:
Will this country deny any children heath care simply because those children parents are in the country illegally?
Come on America, we are spending trillions of dollars on a war that as yet, has not been told to the American people why we are there. Then this President cry about this bill costing the tax payer $200 billion dollars in four (4), years. Then he goes to the Congress and ask for an additional $40 billion dollars to help fund his war for next year, bringing that total to $200 billion dollars for one single year as opposed to the four years it would take for our children health care.
Something is very wrong with this picture America. This is the same man that believes in God. I all ways here the question asked, what would Jesus do? Now really someone needs to go to this President and ask just that question.
What say you?

Hey, as long as the childrens are learnings they don't needs no healthcares.
Well polishifter that's is probaly what Bush thinks. I just wonder if that should apply to his family.
Isn't that a travesty? I was really upset when I heard Dennis Kucinich reason for voting no. I lost all respect for him. Legal or not, children need healthcare and it should never be denied. The United States gives money and medical supplies to children all over the world. Mexican kids aren't worthy of such charity? What would Jesus do? Don't they read their Bibles? I don't remember Jesus only curing those who were his followers...
Ugh...this just makes me so angry!
A travisty indeed Mary Ellen! I'm with you on Kucinich. I have been going to bat for him and how he's been trested, but now this guy can forget my attention.
How can you expect anything different from a President who regularly bombs women and children.
This isn't really anything new.
When I worked in Social Services in the 90's Clinton cut our budget every single year.
This is the culmination of decades of work to grind people down.
I agree with you Larry, 100%.
Very good point fairlane, but it's something when a President tell people that he don't want to put the burden on tax payers over four years and a $200 billion dollars child health care.
Then he puts a one year $200 billion dollars burden on the tax payers, for his war.
Let's not forget, Rush Limbaugh lies to defend and protect Tom.
I understand why Kucinich voted the way he did. He wants universal health care for all...but he should have voted for this bill in the meantime.
He still has my support.
Here is a good explanation of why Kucinich voted the way that he did.
It's just not fair that some children were left out.
I dont know about this one ThanKwee-Anajo, it's like Mary Ellen said, this sounds a lot like Bush with that all or nothing. My way or now way.
I understand where you're coming from Larry.
No way I'm voting for Clinton or Obama because of the Kyle-LIEberman debacle.
I guess that leaves Edwards, Biden and Richardson to choose from.
It still bothers me though that the immigrant children would not be covered under this proposal. :((
"Will this country deny any children heath care simply because those children parents are in the country illegally?"
I suggest this: all the soccer moms who support this administration should get into their SUVs and drive down to the ER of their local county hospital, then stand there at triage and PERSONALLY turn away all those sick and injured children.
This is a very sad time for our country and for all of our children.
I am just back and trying to catch up.
It was so embarrassing to be out of the country when this happened.
It is horrifying.
Hi FranIAm, and welcome back. I'm sorry to just start a comment here, but my services has been down since Friday.
