OUR CONGRESS IS NOT DOING THEIR JOB!

Why is it that Congressman Dennis J. Kucinich (D-OH), sent the President a letter in reference to U.S. troops conducting military operations in Iran. Where's the Congress at on this? Lets Talk.

Congressman Dennis J. Kucinich (D-OH), Ranking Democrat on the House Government Reform Subcommittee on National Security, Emerging Threats and International Relations, sent the following letter to President George W. Bush today about the presence of US troops in Iran:

In it he said "Recently, it has been reported that U.S. troops are conducting military operations in Iran. If true, it appears that you have already made the decision to commit U.S. military forces to a unilateral conflict with Iran, even before direct or indirect negotiations with the government of Iran had been attempted, without UN support and without authorization from the U.S. Congress."

Article I, section 8 of the Constitution empowers Congress, not the president, to debate and decide to declare war on another country. The War Powers Resolution provides that the “constitutional powers of the President as Commander-in-Chief to introduce United States Armed Forces into hostilities, or into situations where imminent involvement in hostilities is clearly indicated by the circumstances, are exercised only pursuant to (1) a declaration of war, (2) specific statutory authorization, or (3) a national emergency created by attack upon the United States, its territories, or possessions or its armed forces.

Can someone please tell me, how this President can do such a thing without going through the Congress?

How can Congress keep allowing this man to violate the Constitution and the the War power Act of 1973.

Don't Consulation Sec 3 of the War power act state that The President in every possible instance shall consult with Congress before introducing United States Armed Forces into hostilities or into situation where imminent involvement in hostilities is clearly indicated by the circumstances, and after every such introduction shall consult regularly with the Congress until United States Armed Forces are no longer engaged in hostilities or have been removed from such situations.

If it's true that we have Marines in Iran right now, then once again the President has made himself King again and took it upon himself to start another War.

Where's the Congress and where are the American citizens? Why do we continually allow this man to do as he please with our Country?

The problem, as I see it, is that Congress went ahead and signed away that authority with their "war on terror" decree. They authorized the President to use any and all means (including military) to combat terrorism and threats to US interests. So, it becomes so incredibly easy for the President to simply say the word "terrorism" and send troops wherever the hell he damn well pleases. And apparently, no one in the Congress has the balls to actually stand up and say "ENOUGH!"

You forget that this country, house and senate and this President has a Constitution to abide by. That is what we and these people that we elect into office have forgotten.

I read your post on Operation Merlin, and I am giving you a break.
You Republicans always scream, give me the facts when it comes to this President, but when it comes to others. You guys just run wild with it, disregarding any type of fact. So, I know that I gave you a break!
