THE MAN WHO SHOULD HAVE BEEN PRESIDENT

Now older and a little plump, well fat... the man who should have been President received his due for global warming.

In August 1998 then Vice President Al Gore called on Congress to pass a new multi-million-dollar initiative to combat global warming.

During his bid for President, a story written by Michelle Mittelstadt appeared on the AP wire. The headline came from an interview at CNN, stating that Gore claimed that he created the Internet. The Republicans put there spin on it and all of America believed it.

The fact is that "Gore is the person who, in the Congress, most systematically worked to make sure that we got to an Internet", that's what Newt Gingrich said, September 1, 2000.

GINGRICH: "In all fairness, it’s something Gore had worked on a long time. Gore is not the Father of the Internet, but in all fairness, Gore is the person who, in the Congress, most systematically worked to make sure that we got to an Internet, and the truth is—and I worked with him starting in 1978 when I got [to Congress], we were both part of a “futures group”—the fact is, in the Clinton administration, the world we had talked about in the ’80s began to actually happen".

David Maraniss, 8/26/00: Gore really was instrumental in developing the Internet. He was the one congressman who understood the whole thing in the ’70s
.

So my Republican friends stop quoting the spin and read the FACTS as to what was said and what really happened.

Now with that out of the way, let's now take a look at the war we are in with Iraq.

Al Gore - September 23, 2002
"I'm speaking today in an effort to recommend a specific course of action for our country, which I sincerely believe would be better for our country than the policy that is now being pursued by President Bush. Specifically, I am deeply concerned that the course of action that we are presently embarking upon with respect to Iraq has the potential to seriously damage our ability to win the war against terrorism and to weaken our ability to lead the world in this new century."

I believe Al Gore would have read the intelligence reports and acted on them, whereas President Bush spent most of his time on the ranch, ignoring any intelligence reports.

Remember, even Russia, tried to give President Bush reports of terrorist hijacking plans... I guess his vacation time at the Ranch didn't call for him reading any reports about any threats to this country.

There's a push for Gore to run again, but there's a lot to be cleaned up, about the spin and the lies still out there in the minds of a lot of Americans, still believing those lies and spins... remember some folks still think that Iraq had something to do with 9/11.

What say you ?

nice post...
each time i see al gore in the media and juxtapose it with the current state of affiars in the world it breaks my heart even more given what could have been... im not sure gore is tha answer (in fact i think we need a new name--not another bush, clinton or whatever), but its a shame the way the republicans stole the last two elections... we have to look too tomorrow though and we shoudl be glad there are a few great candidates out there...

Hi castaway, welcome to Let's Talk.

I concur with you, I'm not sure Gore is the answer.

Yes there's a lot of good candidates and I pray that we dont let the media or the Republicans try to pick who we shall pick as our candidate.

Right now Sen. Clinton and Obama, are the front runners, but we should not over look Sen. Biden and the rest of the Democratic candidates.

Once again, thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment.

"I glance at the headlines just to kind of get a flavor for what's moving. I rarely read the stories, and get briefed by people who are probably read the news themselves." george bush quote. its just deeply deeply worrying. a wombat would make a better president than G.W. bush.

cool blog, thanks for the read.

Thanks beanie and welcome to Lets talk.

I dont know about a wombat, but there's a lot of men and women that would make a better President at this point.

I dont know why President Bush makes the decisions that hurt the average American and average people in other countries.

I would like to think that he means well, but his actions seem to show otherwise.
