I think it's way past time we told the preachers AND anybody that wants to talk about them in the MSM, to take an aeronautical intercourse through a motivated pastry, and started figuring out how we're going to fix this death trap called America.

I got to thinking about this last night, trying to stand back from all the election-year sturm and drang.

One thought that occurred to me is that this pendulum, too, will swing. A few years or maybe decades from now, media harping on candidates' religion, or lack of religion, and making their minister, priest, rabbi or what have you an issue one way or another just won't be done, because people won't find it acceptable.

For now, I'm keeping the faith this notion will turn out to be accurate.

Anything coming from the media establishment should be ignored until equal time, and equal condemnation, is given to crackpots like John Haggai.

Moyers has it exactly right.

Last week I added a video of a Michael Jordan/Nike commercial to my blog, thus turning it into a vlog.

While reading another post from Come On Franco I noticed that he wrote a message claiming that he was afraid his blog would be a continuous link to youtube.

This type of blogging, vlogging, has become the standard mode of operation for many blogs. While I don't necessarily have time to discuss all of the reasons that I won't do this with my blog, I am disappointed to report that one of my favorite bloggers, Larry Sadler, has been spending very little time with his blog-Let's Talk God- and much more time with his political ventures. The political blogs, Lets Talk About It, and Lets Talk, are more appropriately called vlogs, as they consist of youtube segments with a few words of explanation at the bottom to either make a point or draw a question from which to begin conversation. Here's where it gets interesting. I love his religious blog, which sometimes uses youtube segments or pictures from other sites to illustrate the points he makes in his writings, but I can't stand the format of his political blogs. While he and I agree politically on many points, his vlog really is a link farm for youtube.

I read blogs in order to discover the opinions of the writers. 24 hour news stations already do a really good job of cutting political speeches into shorter summations and sound bites. I don't need your blog to do the same job of organizing information that a television network already does.

At the same time. The Larry Sadler blogs get a lot of traffic, his posts regularly draw anywhere from 10-40 comments depending upon the inflammatory level of his subject matter. While it is possible that his readership is intensely loyal, and doesn't need to read or watch the news because of his vlog, I'm guessing that he has hit a note that reverberates at the same tone as a lot of other Americans. Maybe my critique simply demonstrates how out of touch I am.

So, Larry Sadler, when you read this, know that I want to read your opinions. They're good. And I also want you to include a link to my blog on your vlogs/blog. That would be nice.

Let me first say that I really have not had the time to blog or comment I some of my favorite sites. So excuse me all for not paying you all any visits lately.

I will now try to get back into the blogging mode thanks to 2Lt Urban.

LET'S TALK said...

The Future Was Yesterday, I like your comment, very well said!

LET'S TALK said...

I concur S.W. Anderson. Sorry for not stopping by as of late.

I shall pay you all a visit and I know that I will enjoy the read.

LET'S TALK said...

Kvatch, are you blogging again? I'll be over to your site as soon as I'm finished with my comment sections.

I've read some of your post at RAGEBOT but I miss your old site.

LET'S TALK said...

Well 2Lt. Jay Urban, I've never had anyone write a post on my sites and my lack of opinions and slacking at one post to write on the others.

I left a comment at your site and I shall be happy to add your site on my links section and I hope that others pay you a visit and do the same.

Larry, Urban makes a point that has also crossed my mind. Videos can be effective information packages and good conversation starters. But I like to read what a fellow blogger thinks about a given topic, too.

I don't mean this me-too as any kind of harsh criticism. It's just a preference.

The other part of it is that even with DSL, I don't always get videos all that quickly or smoothly. Not too much of a problem with short ones, but it makes longer ones a drag to watch.

Great speech by Bill Moyers. Fortunately, I think the media mouthpieces who are flailing the Jeramiah Wright soundbite to death are just preaching to the choir.

It takes a simple-minded doofus to hear a few isolated quotes from Wright and lump them together with Obama; and most of those people are Republicans who had no intention of voting for Obama in the first place.

LET'S TALK said...

Well SW, I'll see what I can do about the vlog thing and more opinions.

Let's Talk and Let's Talk About It are more of what the reader/visitor thinks about what is going on and I try to move it forward by talking about with them.

LET'S TALK said...

Tom Harper, I think that you are right on the money. I've thought the same things as you but couldn't bring myself to say too much about it.

I thought that Jolly, Polishifter, Snave and 1138 would make their opinions known on this one. They all come up with some great opinions as do you Tom on this type information.

Hi Larry!

I really enjoyed this link to what Bill Moyers said. I also have a lot of respect for how you have respect for each and every comment that everyone makes on your blog, no matter how critical the comment is of you and your blog.

You are one sweet man.

And I am delighted that Barack Obama will be our candidate for the Democratic nominee for the president of the United States! :)

Youpee! :)

LET'S TALK said...

Thanks Anojo, I really had not expected to hear from you so soon.

I know that you are going through a lot, yet you have the time to comment and say such wonderful things about my site, really says a lot about how much of a wonderful person you are as well.
