I'm Showing Both Sides, Trying To Seem Credible

It's great to be back at Let's Talk, trying to Blog. Hello all and I must say that I missed the site's I frequently visit and I surely missed the comment sections.

Speaking of comments. I received a comment from a new reader to Let's Talk. The comment said, I should introduce both sides of a story, which would make Let's Talk, seem more credible. So today, I shall present both sides to a very simple story.

Sally Fields was accepting a Emmy award the other night and the Fox channel...well I will let you be the judge of this.

Fox TV

Canadian TV

Was there really a difference in what Fox showed and what the Canadian CTV showed, What say you?

This idea of "Fair and Balanced" is silly.

If you disagree with the other side, why do you have to present it?

Let the "other side's" supporters report their version of reality, which we all know is jacked up anyway.

I think you do a great job.

Hahaha. I think FOX had more of a problem with "god-damned" than they really had with her rant against the war. Adrien Brody gave a rant about the war at the Oscars and they let him speak.

But to say that FOX isn't biased is ignorance or stupidity, but the FOX Network, although owned by News Corp, is still a different entity than FOX News.

And "the other side?" On this site, I see a call to end the war, and criticism of the Bush administration. I know you are not a Bush fan, but people of all stripes, colors, and political persuasions despise Bush. I'd call myself a conservative and I think he's been a terrible president. And the majority of the country wants us out of the war.

The "side" you display is what is right, moral, and just. If being against the Iraqi occupation and criticism of Bush puts me on one "side" then I'll happily stay there, on the side of the American people.

I think these huge news moguls have a responsibility -- moral and ethical if not legal -- to present as wide and unfiltered a story as possible. It's like when a large bookstore chain decides not to carry a book that's too "controversial." I call that censorship, whether that's the legal definition or not.

Thanks Larry.

Thanks Fairlane, I think that person who said this wanted to see something that I could not agree with on this site.

Thanks for the support David Caspian, I just can't find much from a conservative point of view that is true and correct for me at this time and place within my life.

Tom Harper, you called it right, censorship in its worse form. How can a station that millions of viewers were watching, just disregard the complete statement.

I would like to say, maybe because of the word she used caused them to delete her statement.

I was just commenting about this on Mary Ellen's site - the censors had a seven-second delay before the feed went out live, so they had plenty of time to bleep out one winner's exclamation, which was "Shit!" - but they didn't. The blockout wasn't implemented until the after the word had been spoken.

Don't worry about your blog posts being "fair and balanced" - leave that for those who SHOULD worry about their content, like Faux News.

Thanks Candace, now you have given me some information that I really didn't know about.

You are more than fair L.T. and frankly if someone doesn't like your site than they should go away and read the Bullshit, fabricated, stories, the "other Side" likes to tell so they can sleep better at night! You know the story, where we have sooo much success in Iraq even though the reality is THINGS ARE MORE FCK'D up than EVER! LOL........
To hell with them let them think what they want!!!

LET'S TALK said...

Thanks FunkyTown Fighter, I wish I had that way you describe just what you feel into words here.
You are correct and I want concern myself with trying to be credible to someone else by speaking a lie when I see truth.

I'm surprised Fox let her talk as long as she did. In this case I don't think it was censorship as much as it was paranoia over the "god damned" part.

Ever since Janet Jackson's nipple the FCC has "pledged" to be sticter with broadcasters.

Also, the youtube inbed wasn't showing up...

Yes, you've showed both sides Let's Talk!

And I agree with others about Fox's being "fair and balanced"... yeah, right. It reminds me of that proverbial southern music station which says, "We play both kinds of music.. both country and western.

Anyway, this is your blog and you present your view. Geez..

Incidentally, I noticed that you and Mary Ellen where both awol at the same time... hmmmm.....

Thanks for the YouTube reference PoliShifter, I don't know why my video does not show properly on my post. I guess I'll have to do more work at the upload level. Thanks!

ThanKwee-Anajo, you changed your icon again! I like the picture of you best.
No one was suppose to notice that Mary Ellen and I were both awol at the same time (smile).

I see that she is feeling better now, she has commented on my other site, but I've yet to hear from her on Let's Talk.
