Senate May Call Patrick Fitzgerald

See Original Story

Sen. Schumer said "I’ve spoken to Sen. Leahy about this and what we’re thinking of doing is calling Patrick Fitzgerald—the prosecutor before us….he did interview the President and Vice President…not before a grand jury and he might have some very interesting things to say."

The special prosecutor in the leak case, Patrick Fitzgerald, took issue with Bush's claim the prison term was excessive.

The question now is can they call Fitzgerald since Bush and Cheney weren’t under oath?

What say you?

Not sure what the value in calling Fitzgerald would be, but hey...you never know what might slip out. :-)

I wouldn't see why not. The Congress is s Legislature, not a Court. It seems to me that they could pull anyone they wanted to in for a chat.

One would never know kvatch.

It would appear that way Jolly, unless the President states different. You know executive privilege.

WTF, nothing has pinned this administration down yet. They're buying time and seems to be working!

Coffee Messiah, for now it seems you are correct, they are buying time but I have a feeling, that time for them are running out.

They are no longer under a Republican House or Senate. Soon they must answer to someone.

We can only hope Fitzgerald is ticked enough to offer something.

One can only hope, but that is about it.

If fitzgerald can legally tell them what bush and cheney said when he talked to him, hell yeah, do it!

LET'S TALK said...

larry, I'm not sure the Senate will actually call him and if so, what could he say about Bush that was off the record with no transcript.

pissed off patricia, that's the point, I don't think there's much that he can tell them.

Right now our Senate is fishing instead of calling for this President and his Vice President to be impeached.

Enough of this playing with this guy, who has stacked the courts.

There's got to be an executive privelege argument in there somewhere.

I think this is a great idea! I hope they call Fitz! :)

kip152, I'm thinking the same thing or it could be that there was no transcript.

Suzie-Q (S-Q), I sure hope that this is not just talk and they actually call this guy.

I'm not sure I see the point to calling him.
The response would serve no effective purpose, Fitzgerald is not an idiot, he knows he can't prove anything that was aid and that he could only destroy himself by saying anything - again to no effect even if it were "damaging", which of course it isn't or there would have been something more than what we got (a commuted soon to be pardoned scapegoat.)

LET'S TALK said...

Maybe you are right 1138, I don't know.

We on the left need to take a page out of our opponents' playbook, and DO WHATEVER IT TAKES that is within the law. Because they go outside the law and seem to have a complete disregard for it doesn't mean we have to do the same, but I think we do need to be sure our Dem leaders are doing every possible thing they can to prove that Bu$hCo is populated by criminals.

We need to do something snave.
