Filmmaker Michael Moore revealed on Thursday’s “The Tonight Show” with Jay Leno that the Bush Administration had served him with a subpoena regarding his recent trip to Cuba made as part of his new film, Sicko.Moore told the audience that he was notified of the subpoena backstage.
“I haven’t even told my own family yet,” Moore remarked. “I was just informed when I was back there with Jay that the Bush administration has now issued a subpoena for me.
"I was there to help them and now I’m going to face this further harassment from the Bush people," Moore said, according to a transcript. “Aren’t they busy with something else?"
Yes Mr. Moore, they are busy not answering the subpoena by our Congress, claiming Executive privilege. I see they will expect you to answer them or face who knows what from them.

That figures. Bush is completely unmoved by our health care crisis, but let somebody violate that assinine Cuban embargo and Bush is right on it.
Bush and his fuhrer wannabes have been showing by example that it's OK to ignore a subpoena. Moore should follow suit.
Who Hijacked Our Country
I hope Moore comes out okay on this!
Truth hurts the liars and deceivers!
But it's ok for Bush to veto a bill giving children health insurance. Sometimes it's like we are just circling the drain.
What a complete waste of MORE taxpayer money! Bushie and his cronies love to spend countless dollars and time trying to avenge themselves on anyone they perceive as their enemy, look at the Joe Wilson situation. It's disgusting that this nation is run by people with no morals, nor integrity.
tom harper I just don't know what to make of Bush and the Republicans that still support him.
suzie-q I hope that Moore comes out of this OK as well.
Parson I'll be making my read of your site again today. I noyice you posted a story on this same subject. If anyone want more information on the subject of Moore, I suggest you read Der Parson's rant.
leo, I thought that you were still painting, nice to see you here. I be over to your site later.
As to Bush and Moore, every American with a brain, who's able to think for themselves should see that Bush just don't seem to care about Americans. tomcat wrote a great post on Bush grandfather, Prescott Sheldon Bush, a must read.
Yet again breath taking hipocracy and a diliberate smear of a progressive. Its escaping me right now, but there is a loop hole in the cuban embargo that may allow Moore to win this (in a fair and just court of course) Gauntamo is American terratory etc. Time will tell. Moore brings us a message the whole country needs to hear - and the greedy ass capitalists will spare no expense to give him grief - "land of the free", yeah right !
The Bush scumbags will do anything to get somebody with a different view of the emperor.
1. Didn't this happen right after Bush shot down the proposal for child healthcare?
2. The righties donated millions to Libby's defense fund. If it gets that far, we need to put our money where our mouth is and support Michael.
proudprogressive, I sure hope they find that loop hole.
Larry, this is Bush America and we are his lower income citizens who don't count to him.
kip152, Bush is ready to veto the health care bill for our country kids if it pass the House and Senate this week.
How arrogant... "WE don't have to respond to subpoeanas if we don't want to, but we can subpoeana anyone we want to, and punish them if they don't respond!!"
Maybe if Moore doesn't respond, Bush will invoke his recent executive order that allows him to confiscate property and assets of those who he deems a threat.
Kip152 is right. If it ends up that a defense fund is needed for Michael Moore, so be it. I will contribute to it. If he has to go to court, I sure hope it's a fair and just one... but I would be willing to bet that a Bush appointee will be the judge. Any takers on that? Heh...
I agree Snave, a Bush appointee will be the judge. This guy has everything locked up to sway his way be it the courts and the new directives recently signed by him, given himself more power than people even know or realize.
It's sad to say but at this point President Bush can take over or do as he pleases with America and there is nothing anyone can do about it.
He owns the courts and Congress is locked down by the Senate being able to reject anything they do because of the votes the Republicans have in said Senate.
Seems they have a lot of time on their hands if they are screwing around with something like this. I can think of way more important things facing our country at this time.
I can think of much more important things facing our country currently also pissed off patricia. This President just has to have his way when someone challenge his authority.
FunkyTown Fighter, I must agree this administration does have some nerves.
What a phenomenal waste of time: subpeona Michael Moore - that's a red herring if I ever heard of one.
Same here DivaJood.
