America, Bush and Iraq

America has always had brave men and women who rose to the challenge when called to defend this country. That is why I am so angry at the conservative's, the Republican's, the Neo cons, the evangelical Christians , the chicken hawks, and even the media.

Why, you ask? Because we allowed these people to threaten us as traitors if we spoke out against this war. We allowed these people to challenge anyone who had the will to speak out as not giving a true statement.

We set back and allowed people to loose their jobs and their will to speak out in fear of being called traitors by these folks.

Our consciousness has lost the ideal of freedom of speech, it know longer exist in this country because of this madness.

On October 11 2002, the US House of Representatives authorized war-making powers to this President. The vote was 296-133 in favor in the Congress and 77 to 23 in the Senate. Congress agreed that the threat from Saddam Hussein caused them to give this President the right to go to war with the help of the UN. The Democrats had 126 of the House's 208 Democrats who had the seance to vote against this madness. The rest I guess is history.

Here we are this Memorial Day watching our son's and daughter's die in a war who's purpose has changed more times than I care to remember.

Why dont we just impeach this President and his Vice President and start from there. What say you?

Great comments and I not only want to impeach the President and the Vice President, but I also want to impeach the Senate Majority leader and the Speaker of the House for selling out workers with their embrace of the latest "free trade" deal, and for selling out the troops and the people with their continued support of the Iraq war.

LET'S TALK said...

Thanks larry, I'll go for impeachment also.

I'm with you, for many reasons. But going to war based on a lie of WMD'S is a pretty good one, but I will give them that (faulty intelligence) but a lot was their fault including Cheney.
But staying in a nightmare of a civil war when the majority of the country looks at us like occupiers that in my opinion is inexcusable, or maybe, they are that dumb?

LET'S TALK said...

Yes floyd it is inexcusable and dumb.

Judging by what he has been saying lately, It looks as if this President will try to keep us in Iraq long after September. Maybe will should stop being dumb with him and impeach both he and Vice President Cheney.

I'm with you on the impeachment idea, but it will never happen because our "fearless" leaders in congress care more about their careers then they do this country!

I'd love to, but in order to accomplish that, we need to elect representation that happen to be vertibrates.

LET'S TALK said...

Hi Leo and welcome to Let's Talk, I think you made a good point about our Congress, so it's up to the people to vote for the kind of people we feel will do what we the people want.

Hi kvatch and welcome, we need enough people in Congress with vertebrates to do what we want. So many times we seem to put in Democrats and they get into what the lobbyist want.

I feel both of you are correct. Congress seems to have, as kvatch said, no "virtebrate".

What we are really looking at is not enough Democrats in both House's to make the kind of difference we want in this Country and those who are not influence by the money.

Yes I said money, it seems that the only people Congress listen to are the rich, the oil companies, pharmaceutical companies and lobbyist.

We Americans, are left with whatever they decide and year after year we vote by the party and not by what a person will bring to the table.

Well there wasn't any faulty intelligence unless you count a forged document that was known to be forged. There was brutish tampering with the intelligence with Cheney in charge of it.

Investigate and impeach.
There probably isn't the will at this time to impeach, but at the truth comes out in the investigations, the will, will come with it and a screaming cry from the American People that this monster not be allowed to simply resign like the last one.

LET'S TALK said...

This man's actions deserve impeachment, there's no way around it.

We should start recalling our congressmen. I'm not a political wizard, but I know that if you're not being represented the way you should, you CAN throw the bums out of office. Maybe if this was started and a few got recalled, the rest would figure that maybe they better start listening and doing what the people want. We DO have more power than we think, we should use it.

LET'S TALK said...

It would appear that Americans gave up any right of power when Bush was put into Office... we've lost everything since.

Well it's been put on the top shelf where they hope we won't find it, but it's still there. Impeachment could still happen if WE all got together. I think the problem is, we've always at least semi-trusted the government to at least not screw us over completely... we've got to get out of that mindset and take our government back from the evil-doers in Washington, whether bush, cheney, or the losers in congress. We're being run by the worst the country has to offer, and we've got to fight to get it back.

Let me tell you what my Senator told me. Here is her written response to my same question:

Dear Mr. Amico:

Thank you for your letter concerning impeachment proceedings against Vice President Richard Cheney. I appreciate the time you took to write and welcome the opportunity to respond.

In our most recent elections, the American people expressed clear disapproval with the path this country was on. They are tired of partisan politics and of an Administration that pays little heed to the wishes of the American people. They want-and deserve-a Congress that holds the Administration accountable and fulfills its Constitutional responsibility to check and balance the Executive branch. I share this sentiment and am determined to work hard and across party lines in the United States Senate to promote issues that are of real concern to most Americans, including the situation in Iraq and Afghanistan, homeland security, global warming, and lobbying and election reform.

At this time, however, I believe that impeachment proceedings against President Bush or Vice President Cheney will only divide the country even further, frustrating our hopes for a meaningful change in direction, while having little chance of success.

I have been deeply disappointed by many of this Administration's actions and have been outspoken in those instances. Nevertheless, given the challenges our country faces I believe that we need to focus on constructive and cooperative steps that would lead us in the right direction.

Again, thank you for your letter. If you have any further questions or comments, please contact my office in Washington, D.C. at (202) 224-3841. Best regards.

Dianne Feinstein
United States Senator

It wasn't a good reason was it!

I say ITMFA!

Bob: I agree with you; "We are being run by the worst the country has to offer, and wehave got to fight to get it back."

These guys are criminals, getting away with everything under the sun.

Charles Amico: I am sorry to hear that Senator Dianne Feinstein feels the way that she does. "This country can only be more divided", just don't seem to be an answer.

Ron: I say the time has come to ITMFA. Impeachment did not seem to make this country any worse when the Republicans tried to do the same thing to Clinton for sex.

This is far worse, our country has been fast becoming a fascist country since this President and Vice President came into power.

Lizzy said...

I couldn't agree more.

LET'S TALK said...

Thanks Lizzy.

Charles,

I got the same thing from my representative, flake here. He said "he doesnt agree that impeachment is the answer, and he guesses we have to agree to disagree"

My view is, they're there to represent US, not their party position. Such is why in a comment in another post here, I said we should looking into recalling some of the congressmen who have their, not our agenda. Impeachment won't have a chance if the house, which starts the ball rolling, says "no, bad idea, tough luck". Sometimes you have to stomp on a lot of drone bees to get to the queen.(queen bush, how appropriate)

I think Kvatch is right. We need to elect vertebrates in order to rid our system of those with exoskeletons.

LET'S TALK said...

We need to do this very carefully with patience.

sounds like a good start.

LET'S TALK said...

Hello again lefty and welcome back to Let's Talk.

Impeachment is a start and then just maybe the Democrats would grow balls in place of those wings they seem to have now.

Impeachment, yes-and prosecution in The Hague as well. This is a monstrous crime against humanity and there is only one appropriate response.
