First let's start with the first lie. See Hillary first lie
Yet another lie has been spreaded by our former first lady and New York Senator. According to The New York Times.
Sen. Clinton has been going around claiming that "an uninsured pregnant woman who lost her baby and died herself after being denied care by an Ohio hospital because she could not come up with a $100 fee."
"The woman, Trina Bachtel, did die last August, two weeks after her baby boy was stillborn at O’Bleness Memorial Hospital in Athens, Ohio. But hospital administrators said Friday that Ms. Bachtel was under the care of an obstetrics practice affiliated with the hospital, that she was never refused treatment and that she was, in fact, insured.
“We implore the Clinton campaign to immediately desist from repeating this story,” said Rick Castrop, chief executive officer of the O’Bleness Health System.
Linda M. Weiss, a spokeswoman for the not-for-profit hospital, said the Clinton campaign had never contacted the hospital to check the accuracy of the story, which Mrs. Clinton had first heard from a Meigs County, Ohio, sheriff’s deputy in late February."
My question is, why does she continue to make such untrue statements, what say you?

What makes no sense is that she doesn't have to lie.
She was in Bosnia on a diplomatic mission. Sniper fire was tangential to her point.
About 18,000 Americans die every year from lack of health insurance. Many more suffer. She could have easily found a real, verifiable story.
I blame her for juicing up her stories, but I also blame the American public for demanding that their politicians be entertaining above all else.
I think what she is doing might just destroy what is left of the Democratic party.
Those darn pesky recording devices are everywhere!
What happened to the good ol' days when a politician could go in front of a friendly crowd and toss out tons of red meat and never have it get reported?
Older politicians especially seem to forget about recording devices. Hence Trent Lott at Strom Thurmond's B-Day. Not sure what Macaca George Allen's excuse was....don't think he is that old.
The Clinton's have a history of nuance, triangulation, and defining 'is'. I think she knows what she is doing when she juices up these stories. She is trying to appeal for votes and gain support.
But in this day in age it can easily backfire as while some people will be inspired and moved to vote for her based on these stories, she will lose the votes of many more after they watch youtube videos and read news debunking the stories on the internet.
If one compares Obama so called lies to Hillary. She's telling some big ones.
This isn't a clear case of Clinton making something up. Before rendering harsh judgments, read this, which begins:
"Democratic Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton has stopped telling a story of a pregnant woman's medical tragedy after an Ohio hospital challenged its accuracy last weekend.
"But recent accounts of the episode have omitted key details that suggest there was more truth in the essence of Clinton's tale than her critics, and even her presidential campaign, have acknowledged."
Blogs were abuzz over the weekend with "news" Condoleeza Rice is desperately seeking the vice president's spot on the GOP ticket. Today, Rice is flatly denying that. The McCain campaign said it hadn't heard any such thing, and sources willing to be named and willing to say Rice was hot to trot were as rare as people willing to admit they're pals of Jack Abramoff.
Maybe we all should slow down a little and keep a healthy sense of skepticism about some of these things.
I agree S.W. It should also start with the candidates as well.
Let me just say this before I forget. Most of my visitors have never visited Oh!pinion. This is a great site by S.W. Anderson.
If you have the chance please visit this site, you want be sorry.
Tomcat, Candance, Distributorcap,
ThomasLB, PoliShifter, Snave, 1138, Coffee Messiah, two crows, JollyRoger, phil_in_ny, FranIam, Mauigirl, and Tom Harper. I expect to see you all there.
I mention you all because your posts are outstanding and this is one in your league as well!
Others I forgot to mention is Anojo, The Future Was Yesterday, L'ennui mélodieux, enigma, Mary Ellen, and diane. All outstanding blogs, even if some don't visit any longer.
If I had to guess, I'd say the reason is that she didn't do the homework of having someone check out the story, just like her vote on Iraq made without taking the time to read the classified intelligence report.
While I think it's going too far to call this a lie, doing homework on issues is most important. Without knowing the facts, 3 AM decisions will be flawed.
Larry, I'm humbled. Thanks for the kind words.
You're right about the need for candidates to slow down a bit and measure their words. Unfortunately, they've been running on a treadmill so hard for so long, I'm afraid they're losing their perspective.
Tomcat is also right about the need for candidates and/or their staffs to do homework on these stories and "recollections."
One thing that makes me think Clinton was just winging it as best she could from memory, rather than deliberately making her story up, is the fact she knows her every word is being recorded and that someone, somewhere will check out what she says. Like her or dislike her, you surely know she's plenty smart.
Comprehensive reform of the whole nominating and electoral system is needed. It's all too long, too expensive and too wearing on everyone. It tends to bring out the worst from everyone, too, the media most especially.
Last I heard there was some truth to this story.
TomCat, I love how you take a point and make it calm. I concur with your view about the story Hillary told.
S.W. Anderson, I have found Tomcat to be an honest to the point man and my respect goes out to him for that.
I find your logic of looking at this problem to be very understanding. Great comment and thanks for clearing up the point I made.
Anajo/Anijo/JoAnn, I can't understand how she cam continue to say things that are not true.
I must say that S.W. and Tomcat gives great points to the story.
I think lying is such an ingrained habit for Hillary, she just can't stop. When she was First Lady (and when she was running for her Senate seat), the Internet wasn't as ubiquitous then. If somebody lied, people were less likely to do a web search and come up with conflicting information.
Now every time a public figure says something, millions of people bring up Google and go "Click!" and the truth comes out.
Hillary needs to adapt.
Tom, she makes it hard to believe any policies she has put on the table, including her health care plan.
Hillary can't win:
