The Real Mike Huckabee!

"If the federal government is truly serious about doing something with the AIDS virus, we need to take steps that would isolate the carriers of this plague." This was written by Huckabee in 1992.

The U.S. Supreme Court was probably right to strike down anti-sodomy laws, but that states still should be able to restrict things such as gay marriage or domestic partner benefits. Stated in 2003, Huckabee, opposition of gay marriage.

"I feel homosexuality is an aberrant, unnatural, and sinful lifestyle, and we now know it can pose a dangerous public health risk." This Southern Baptist preacher seems to be against homosexuality in every way possible. Now he wants to be the President for the people, I guess this will exclude anyone he considers gay.

What say you?

Of all the hype and bravada filling the airwaves each day, Huckabee has as many skeletons in his closet of crust, as do Guiliani and the rest.

They just haven't seeped out of his self-righteousness yet.

Now rhat he's the front runner, things will come out about him now Larry.

Huckabee response on AIDS;
WASHINGTON (AP) — GOP presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee said Sunday he won't run from his statement 15 years ago that AIDS patients should have been isolated.
Oh, Lets talk he is a good one all right, you got him nailed,,here we go;
Huckabee on education;
Impeach judges for barring legislature prayers to Jesus. (Sep 2007)
Ending school prayer was one step in society's moral decay. (Jun 2007)
Support displaying the Ten Commandments in public schools.

This guy is a classic wing-nut.

I say, what else did you expect from an Elder of Jesusistan?

Don't forget that Huck wouldn't allow State funds for the abortion of a fetus from a 15 year old girl who'd been raped by her stepfather.

I'm always suspicious of people who believe their prejudices and bigotries are inspired by the Almighty.

Floyd, the Evangelicals have found their candidate for this race in Huckabee.

LET'S TALK said...

Jolly Roger, I just can't understand the people that would vote for this kind of sickness.

ThomasLB, I'm right with you on that.

FranIAm, your post made me go out and look for information on this guy and I didn't have to look far.

Huckabee is wrong on so many levels that I don't know where to begin. I saw this on tv when it aired and I felt my blood boil. As you've probably noticed, I've been a strong advocate for gay rights. To even hint at quarantining gays who have AIDS shows a lack of intelligence that is beyond comprehension. To compare the spread of a virus like AIDS to a virus that is airborne tells you the lack of brain cells in that guys head.

Also, a man that is running for office to be President needs to understand that gays are Americans and deserve the rights and respect that is afforded every other American. This asshole said at the last GOP debate when asked if he would accept the endorsement and money from the gay community, he said "Yes". He'll take their money, but keeps them from acquiring equal rights to all Americans. What a hypocrite!

This man may come off as being soft spoken and a follower of the Word of God...but he is nothing more than another snake oil salesman who sells his version of the Truth.

Mary Ellen, I must confess, he had me fooled. I thought this guy was a pastor and an easy going person trying to be President for the people.

I did not agree with his way of thinking but never would I have believed that this guy felt this way about any person in this country.

I do not know what it's like to be gay, but I do have friends who are and I see how they are looked on by others.

We can never have a President who share these types of views. They are to be for the people, all the people.

Which brings me to the problem I have with both Obama and Edwards. They can both accept those that are different, but cannot seem to accept marriage between people of the same sex.

I understand that Edward really has a problem with this and only change some of his opinions because of his wife.

It's really creepy to think people actually run for president with this mentality.

"The real Mike Huckabee" is a typical Bible-pounder, just like we knew. His one positive side: He actually believes in the parts of the Bible that talk about helping others, as well as all the anti-gay drivel. That doesn't mean I'd ever vote for him, but he might drive a wedge between the real Christians who actually care and have compassion and the phony ones who just use the Bible as a billy club.

Who Hijacked Our Country

LET'S TALK said...

phil_in_ny, it's even creepy when this type person is leading in the Iowa polls.

LET'S TALK said...

Tom Harper, I just hope he's not their candidate for the Republican party.

Just what we need, another Christo-fascist running the country.

we surely do not need a Pastor in Chief that much i know. And if he by some fluke should be the nominee, We shall see that indeed at least i hope so..(yikes) that ameriKa really is not all that crazy about religious leaders running the public sector. Even the saner Evangelicals will not want to see it happen. At least that is my hope. He will be clobbered in a general election. It would be a great thing for the Dems if it happened and he got the nomination.

LET'S TALK said...

Candace, if left up to the Republicans, this is what we will get.

I hope that you are right proudprogressive.

J. Marquis posted a good one over at his blog "Major Conflict". It is worth reading. The article is by Rich Lowry of the National Review, and like other recent stuff by Lowry, it has a decidedly anti-Huckabee flavor.

"Democrats have to be looking at Huckabee the way Republicans once regarded Dean — as a shiny Christmas present that is too good to be true."

http://majorconflict.blogspot.com/

If Huckabee doesn't believe in evolution and believes Earth is about 6,000 years old, what will that do for our nation's science community and its research? What will that do to our nation's schools and their curricula, and what will it do to the separation of church and state? The above concerns have been worrisome enough under the evangelical Dumbya Bush, but I can't imagine how much worse it could get under Huckabee. I rarely agree with Lowry on anything, but in this case, I think Huckabee's evangelical views would hurt the GOP more than they would help it.

In the same way some of Clinton's workers were spreading disinformation about Barack Obama, I am expecting the camps of Romney, Giuliani, Thompson and McCain to do the same re. Huckabee and the problem he represents for the GOP.

The Lowry article serves to point out how much a candidate like Huckabee can drive a wedge into a political party. If Huckabee continues to rise, what can the RNC do about it? Probably not a lot. If he is prevented from getting the nomination through various Republican dirty tricks, it will alienate the evangelicals... so it could be harder for the GOP to win the White House because they might not have the evangelical vote, and they are highly dependent on that vote in order to win. If Huckabee does get the nomination, how could someone who is as much a fundamentalist as he is get elected president? His narrow views, many of which reflect prejudices, religious biases and magical thinking, would be hard even for many Republicans to take.

I think the more he rises, the more of a lose-lose situation it is for the Republicans... and I like that.
