I told you that I was not the smartest man out here, but there is something seriously wrong when we hear about AIG and another $37 billion dollar loan from the Treasury. A week after the government bailout. AIG is reported to have at the cost of $443,343.71 spent or paid this amount for their executives at a retreat in California.

Rep. Cummings said, "AIG spent $200,000 dollars for hotel rooms. Almost $150,000 for catered banquets. AIG spent $23,000 at the hotel spa and another $1,400 at the salon. They were getting manicures, facials, pedicures and massages while American people were footing the bill. And they spent another $10,000 dollars for I don't know what this is, leisure dining."

Today as reported by CBS.

The Federal Reserve has agreed to provide insurance giant American International Group with a loan of up to $37.8 billion, on top of one made to the troubled company last month.

This even after the Bush administration stated "it was "despicable" that AIG executives spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on a posh California retreat just days after getting the $85 billion bailout."

Just what does this say to Americans when we are told that an additional loan worth billions were being given to this institution for the bailout, what say you?

Olbermann gave a special comment on Gov. Palin. He talked about Joe Vogler and Palins husband and the secession they seeked for Alaska, and how Gov. Palin read an infinity number of news papers.

Palin said that she had heels on and taking off the gloves, trying to be the hatchet person to smear Obama, yet she does not seem to realize exactly what she and McCain holds in their dirty little closets.

She seems to forget about Pastor Muthee, the witch doctor chaser and the layer of hands and prayer for her.

This seems to be about smear and not what anyone will be doing to help with our economy, you know the one, that Bush was is in charge of, the one that McCain seemed to favor de regulations over regulations for our financial institutions.

I know that I am not the smartest man in the world, so I need a little help to understand this bailout.

How can our House, Senate and President take the advice of a Secretary Of Treasury, who has been a CEO not just once but twice?

How can they take the money Americans give to our Government to run our country then give $700 billion dollars to Wall Street, who will loan tax dollars back to us for Homes and cars, then charge us interest on our own money?

It is also said that the $700 billion dollars will be borrowed from other countries and our kids at some point will have to pay it back. Now what sense does that make, what say you?

Since I wrote this post I read Thomaslb post called Math. Thomaslb explains it like this: "A $700 billion dollar bailout divided by a population of 301,139,947 comes to $2,324.50 per person.

Of course, not every person works. In 2007, roughly 138 million Americans made enough money to pay taxes. $700 billion divided by 138 million comes to $5,072.46 per wage earner.

The government recently handed out $600 checks to every taxpayer in order to stimulate the economy. Logically, what will sending out bills for more than eight times that amount do?"

Remember it was McCain who said he was going to lead the Republican charge for the bailout of Wall Street, he was going to make sure that this was a bipartisan success...he called for the charge, well what happen?

I am sure that the folks that have gotten rich stealing from us can raise enough in a fund raiser to help with their own bailout. It seems those billions in option ARMs were just too much, now their equity is about to be gone. So do a fund raser and get yourself back on your own feet, as we all do.

With the bailout that would ensure money for the already rich, we the Main Street would be giving away everything for nothing.

I do not know about you, but I am tired of being on the lowest scale in this country. Any time Americas are asked to sacrifice, it's always the poor and middle class doing just that.

Now that this bill did not pass McCain is blaming anyone he can and you know that starts with Obama.

If we elect this man as our next President, we will have only ourselves to blame. Anyone still feels that need to follow McCain because Hillary did not win, what say you?

ABC allowed his poison to come into the Democratic debates in reference to William Ayers and his relationship to Obama. Was there any relationship with Obama at age eight and after when he and Ayers was on the same board? William Ayers is a professor of education at the University of Illinois, Chicago. He is also a former member of the Weather Underground Movement, previously known as the Weathermen, a radical 1960's Maoist movement dedicated to sparking a revolutionary overthrow of the United States government. He, along with other members of the Weather Underground, turned themselves in to police in 1981, after a series of official acts of misconduct on behalf of law enforcement officials ensured that they would never be brought to trial for their activities. Obama's connection to Ayers began in 1999, when they served together on the board of the Wood Fund of Chicago, a philanthropic foundation. Their children also have attended the same schools and Ayers is a known Obama supporter and campaign contributor. Wake up America and look at what is being done by ABC and Hannity. Was this an ambush to cause Obama to lower his guard an allow someone pass to be associated with him?

Yet another lie has been spreaded by our former first lady and New York Senator. According to The New York Times.

Sen. Clinton has been going around claiming that "an uninsured pregnant woman who lost her baby and died herself after being denied care by an Ohio hospital because she could not come up with a $100 fee."

"The woman, Trina Bachtel, did die last August, two weeks after her baby boy was stillborn at O’Bleness Memorial Hospital in Athens, Ohio. But hospital administrators said Friday that Ms. Bachtel was under the care of an obstetrics practice affiliated with the hospital, that she was never refused treatment and that she was, in fact, insured.

“We implore the Clinton campaign to immediately desist from repeating this story,” said Rick Castrop, chief executive officer of the O’Bleness Health System.

Linda M. Weiss, a spokeswoman for the not-for-profit hospital, said the Clinton campaign had never contacted the hospital to check the accuracy of the story, which Mrs. Clinton had first heard from a Meigs County, Ohio, sheriff’s deputy in late February."

Why even bother to complain about what President Bush has done to this country or even the war in Iraq, when we are set on allowing John McCain to become President.

How is it that we sit around computers for days on end and talked about the lives and what this President has put this country through. We are ready once again to do the same thing if our candidate does not get the nominee for President.

How do we justify Clinton or Obama being so wrong for this country when we have spent the past seven years with Bush.

Yet I hear and see everyday the followers of Clinton and Obama making statements that they would not vote for President if their candidate is not the nominee. Just what are we doing and how in the world can we fix this mistake that we are about to make for our country?

One would have hoped that Hill would have avoided the Klanservatism, having been the perennial victim of some fairly vicious misogyny, but one would have hoped wrong. The handmaidens of the Chimpromised MSM have yet again proven their unswerving loyalty to Chimpy and his anointed successor in how they’ve chosen to cover this issue. While Obama has been pounded mercilessly by the punditry of Wingtardia (who have, in turn, been given nearly constant media coverage for their poundings,) Obama has also been forced to repeatedly disavow what Jeremiah Wright said.
Contrast the Chimpromised MSM’s nonstop flagellation of Obama (who disavows the remarks) with the free pass John McCavein is getting in the media. McCavein has praised and embraced 2 of the most despicable Jesusistani elders in America today, without even a whisper from the lapdogs of our “fair” media.
Here’s what McCavein had to say about the endorsement of John Hagee…
Yesterday, Senator John McCain said he was “very honored by Pastor John Hagee’s endorsement.” The Republican presidential hopeful also called Hagee “the staunchest leader of our Christian evangelical movement,” citing the minister’s pro-Israel stance.
And here’s what Hagee has to say about those Satan-worshiping Catholic murderers…
Adolf Hitler attended a Catholic school as a child and heard all the fiery anti-Semitic rantings from Chrysostom to Martin Luther. When Hitler became a global demonic monster, the Catholic Church and Pope Pius XII never, ever slightly criticized him. Pope Pius XII, called by historians ‘Hitler’s Pope,’ joined Hitler in the infamous Concordat of Collaboration, which turned the youth of the [sic] Germany over to Nazism, and the churches became the stage background for the bloodthirsty cry, ‘Pereat Judea’[19]…. To put it mildly, this is bullshit. There are plenty of reasons to knock the Catholic Church without claiming that all Catholics are Nazis. Hagee doesn’t stop with just hating Catholics though.
On the September 18, 2006, edition of National Public Radio’s Fresh Air, Hagee stated that Hurricane Katrina was an act of God, punishing New Orleans for “a level of sin that was offensive to God”. He specifically referred to a “homosexual parade” that was held on the date the hurricane struck and that this was proof “of the judgment of God against the city of New Orleans”, even though the Southern Decadence parade was scheduled for the following week and the primary gay neighborhoods, the French Quarter and the Marigny, were spared the flooding and destruction. Another reason for God’s wrath, Hagee claims, was the Bush administration’s pressure on Israel to abandon settlements and the land associated with them. Therefore, God took American land in a tit for tat exchange during Hurricane Katrina.
Why am I not hearing about THIS in the mainstream media? Why isn’t McCavein being forced to explain why he thinks Hagee is such a great guy? Does McCavein agree with what Hagee says? If we apply the MSM’s Obama standard to McCavein, I guess we have no choice but to believe that McCavein does, in fact, agree with what Hagee says-ESPECIALLY since McCavein continues to talk about what a great guy Hagee is.
While you read this, remember that Hagee isn’t even the worst of McCavein’s Jesusistan buddies. Rod Parsley, who is irredeemable scum, rightfully claims the title of “the worst.” Let’s have a quick look at what McCavein’s other Jesusistan cheerleader has to say about the issues of the day.
On Muslims:
The leader of a 12,000-member congregation, Parsley has written several books outlining his fundamentalist religious outlook, including the 2005 Silent No More. In this work, Parsley decries the “spiritual desperation” of the United States, and he blasts away at the usual suspects: activist judges, civil libertarians who advocate the separation of church and state, the homosexual “culture” (”homosexuals are anything but happy and carefree”), the “abortion industry,” and the crass and profane entertainment industry. And Parsley targets another profound threat to the United States: the religion of Islam.
In a chapter titled “Islam: The Deception of Allah,” Parsley warns there is a “war between Islam and Christian civilization.” He continues:
I cannot tell you how important it is that we understand the true nature of Islam, that we see it for what it really is. In fact, I will tell you this: I do not believe our country can truly fulfill its divine purpose until we understand our historical conflict with Islam. I know that this statement sounds extreme, but I do not shrink from its implications. The fact is that America was founded, in part, with the intention of seeing this false religion destroyed, and I believe September 11, 2001, was a generational call to arms that we can no longer ignore.
Parsley is not shy about his desire to obliterate Islam. In Silent No More, he notes—approvingly—that Christopher Columbus shared the same goal: “It was to defeat Islam, among other dreams, that Christopher Columbus sailed to the New World in 1492…Columbus dreamed of defeating the armies of Islam with the armies of Europe made mighty by the wealth of the New World. It was this dream that, in part, began America.” He urges his readers to realize that a confrontation between Christianity and Islam is unavoidable: “We find now we have no choice. The time has come.” And he has bad news: “We may already be losing the battle. As I scan the world, I find that Islam is responsible for more pain, more bloodshed, and more devastation than nearly any other force on earth at this moment.”
Obviously, someone forgot to tell Rod about Chimpy’s Glorious Oedipal Crusade on Iraq, which was about the most secular country in the Arab world. I believe that pretty much everyone agrees that Iraq is where you will find more pain, bloodshed, and devastation than you can shake a cross at. But let’s go on…
Parsley didn’t like the idea of a hate crimes measure that protected gays at all either, since his venomous spew would almost certainly earn him a citation within weeks of such a law being passed. As you can see from his Wikipedia bio, Parsley is a Jesusistani through and through-hate gays, hate the poor, hate Muslims, rake in the bucks. He’s at least a bit creative with his fleecings, as he promises you protection from them fags for a mere $50.
Parsley’s a real piece of shit, isn’t he? Unless you happen to be John McCavein, in which case this cross-waving charlatan is your spiritual advisor.
He has preached this prosperity gospel while accumulating vast personal wealth, including a $1 million, five-bedroom, 5 1/2-bath house with a swimming pool; a $63,000 Cadillac ESV and a $68,000 Lexus LX470 for himself and his wife, Joni; and a $5,000 Polaris all-terrain vehicle. Parsley shares a gated 21-acre compound in Fairfield County with his mother and father– church officials Ellen and James Parsley– who live in a $940,000 home. The senior Parsleys also own a $450,000 vacation home on Lake San Marcos near San Diego.
Parsley’s megachurch and related industries raking in millions of dollars and pays no taxes, yet he is one of the most blatantly political preachers in America, his so-called churches an offshoot of the Ohio Republican Party. He endorses candidates left right and further right, a clear violation of his tax-exempt status. “On February 26, McCain appeared at a campaign rally in Cincinnati with the Reverend Rod Parsley of the World Harvest Church of Columbus, a supersize Pentecostal institution that features a 5,200-seat sanctuary, a television studio (where Parsley tapes a weekly show), and a 122,000-square-foot Ministry Activity Center. That day, a week before the Ohio primary, Parsley praised the Republican presidential front-runner as a ’strong, true, consistent conservative.’ The endorsement was important for McCain, who at the time was trying to put an end to the lingering challenge from former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee, a favorite among Christian evangelicals. A politically influential figure in Ohio, Parsley could also play a key role in McCain’s effort to win this bellwether state in the general election. McCain, with Parsley by his side at the Cincinnati rally, called the evangelical minister a ’spiritual guide.’”
This is the same rally, incidentally, where “Adolf” Cunningham made his infamous remarks. How could you be more of a hypocrite than to denounce Cunningham while EMBRACING Parsley? Cunningham is a fly-fleck in terms of scumminess when compared to Rod.
I really do believe in the separation of Church and State, but enough is enough. These hateful sacks of shit should be made to pay a heavy tax on every dollar that comes their way, and their megachurches should be illegal.
When will the MSM catch up to this? Johnny embraces the murder of all Muslims, thinks Catholics are all Nazis, and believes New Orleans got what it deserved. Why aren’t our “reporters” asking Johnny about any of this?

After the last two weeks and what I've seen and heard from the Clinton camp. Olbermann makes some very strong arguments against Hillary and how she has fought this fight.

I will support whomever wins but for now I cannot support the actions of Hillary Clinton.

Ask corporate lobbyists which presidential contender is most feared by their clients and the answer is almost always the same -- Democrat John Edwards.
The former North Carolina senator's chosen profession alone raises the hackles of business people. Before entering politics, he made a fortune as a trial lawyer.
In litigious America, trial lawyers bring lawsuits against companies on behalf of aggrieved individuals and sometimes win multimillion-dollar settlements. Edwards won several.

We hear how he helps the poor and wanted to stop big business, but did you know this?

Speaking of the poor and how he will try to fight the big business man, did you know that Edwards, working part-time as an academic focused on poverty, "worked part-time as a senior adviser," says AP. Since his job was to help Fortress Investment get richer, poverty would presumably not be his main concern. See Fortress

Four months later, he began working for the kind of firm that to many Wall Street critics embodies the economy of wealthy insiders -- a hedge fund. See Business

Edwards, however, was not known as an outspoken champion for the poor during his six years as a senator, and his campaign could point to no major bills in that regard that he authored and got passed into law. He did help push a patients' bill of rights and he joined other Democrats in Congress in backing proposed increases in the minimum wage.

In 2000, he voted for permanent, normalized trade relations with China, which gave American businesses access to China's huge market, but which labor and other opponents said would hurt domestic manufacturing. Edwards has called the vote a blunder. He also voted, in 2002, for a bill giving President Bush broad authority to negotiate trade agreements. Edwards says he regrets that vote, too.

Edwards has disavowed other major votes as well. In 2001, he joined 81 other senators in voting for bankruptcy legislation making it more difficult for consumers to clear debt. Senator Christopher Dodd of Connecticut, who dropped out of the presidential race last week after a poor showing in Iowa, has attacked Edwards for his vote, saying it belied his stated commitment to fighting for the middle class.

Last month, Edwards told reporters that he was wrong to vote for the bill, but that it was an exception.

"I voted hundreds of times in the interests of poor people," he said, according to the Los Angeles Times. "If you look at anybody's record you'll be able to flyspeck one thing here or there. My life work makes absolutely clear what I'm committed to."

Edwards similarly expressed contrition for his 2002 vote authorizing the invasion of Iraq, saying he was "wrong to vote for this war." And he has apologized for his support in 2001 of No Child Left Behind, President Bush's controversial education initiative requiring public schools to meet certain benchmarks. Edwards has called it one of the worst mistakes of his Senate career.

Edwards's approach to policy-making has evolved as well, as he has grown far more confrontational than the candidate whose sunny disposition, both as a presidential contender and eventual running mate, was a hallmark of the 2004 race.

He often, for example, casts rival Barack Obama, the senator from Illinois, as hopelessly naive for being willing to let drug companies and insurance companies participate in negotiations over healthcare. "That is a complete fantasy," Edwards said last week in Iowa. "The only way we're going to get their power away is we're going to have to take their power away."

In February of last year, however, when Edwards was asked by a writer on the liberal blog MyDD.com about the role of business, labor, healthcare groups, and doctors in the healthcare debate, he said, "I think you try to bring everybody to the table. You want their participation. You want to make the system work for everybody."

Edwards's campaign insists that a focus on inconsistencies in his record misses the larger arc of a career spent representing plaintiffs in lawsuits against corporations, winning accolades from major labor groups even though he came from a right-to-work state, and, in the years between his presidential campaigns, creating an academic center to study ways to reverse poverty.

But compared with 2004, when he was the Democratic vice-presidential nominee, his rhetoric has escalated considerably. He now contrasts himself with Obama on the basis of his personal, lifelong commitment to fighting corporate greed.

His shift in tone may have helped him win over some Democrats this cycle. Indeed, his second-place finish in Iowa over Senator Hillary Clinton and his continued viability as a candidate bear that out.

But the more confrontational tone has also turned off some voters who preferred the John Edwards they knew in 2004.

Denise Hawks, a 49-year-old donor relations specialist from Des Moines, said she was with Edwards four years ago, but went with Obama this year, in part because of Edwards's transformation into an angrier, more strident candidate. If he was such a fighter, she asked, where was he when Republican operatives helped sink the Democrats' 2004 presidential hopes with their attack ads?

"Four years too late," Hawks said. "They were asleep at the wheel."

Edwards has said that he wanted to fight back against attacks on his running mate, John F. Kerry, but was overruled by the Kerry camp. Kerry and more than a half-dozen former high-ranking Kerry-Edwards campaign officials, however, have disputed his contention that he favored a tougher strategy, saying Edwards often refused their requests to go after Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney more forcefully. He talks about how he apologized for signing to go to war and jumps all over Hillary, but did you know this?

Just as Hillary he never read the NIE report but claimed he did and later retracted. Yet as John Kerry's 2004 ticketmate, the former North Carolina senator was anything but eager to acknowledge error on Iraq. Instead, according to several Kerry-Edwards campaign aides, Edwards argued repeatedly that the two should stand by their votes, even after it had become apparent that Iraq had neither weapons of mass destruction nor collaborative ties with Al Qaeda. He has been mean and wrong about a lot of things and I feel he was wrong to Hillary Clinton when this occured: Her voice breaking and tears in her eyes, she said, "You know, this is very personal for me. It's not just political it's not just public. I see what's happening, and we have to reverse it."

Edwards jumped on the chance to express his readiness to face the strenuous demands of the presidency: "What I know is I'm prepared for that and I'm in this fight for the middle class and the future of this country for the long haul, through the conventions, straight to the White House."

However, in an interview with ABC News' David Muir, Elizabeth Edwards offered more compassion than her husband. She noted that everyone on the campaign trail can relate to how grueling the task can be. In the end, Elizabeth Edwards did not pass on the political opportunity and added that voters will decide whether or not they want to see watery eyes.

Later, at another campaign stop, Edwards appeared to adopt his wife's more sympathetic tone.

"These campaigns are very grueling," he said, "they're tough and difficult affairs, running for president is a tough process."

During a campaign stop at Jake's Coffee in New London, New Hampshire, Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., was also asked to comment about Clinton's teary moment.

"I didn't see what happened," he said, but added, "I know this process is a grind. So that's not something I care to comment on."See Hillary

Our President George W Bush will be brief ISRAELI security officials on their latest intelligence about Iran’s nuclear programme - and how it could be destroyed - when he begins a tour of the Middle East in Jerusalem this week.

Last month it was revealed that the US National Intelligence Estimate report, drawing together information from 16 agencies, had concluded that Iran stopped a secret nuclear weapon programme in 2003.

Israeli intelligence is understood to agree that the project was halted around the time of America’s invasion of Iraq, but has “rock solid” information that it has since started up again.

While security officials are reluctant to reveal all their intelligence, fearing that leaks could jeopardise the element of surprise in any future attack, they are expected to present the president with fresh details of Iran’s enrichment of uranium - which could be used for civil or military purposes - and the development of missiles that could carry nuclear warheads.

In an interview with the Israeli newspaper Yediot Aharonot this weekend, Bush argued that in spite of the US intelligence assessment, Iran still posed a threat.

“I read the intelligence report carefully,” Bush said. “In essence, what the report said was that Iran had a secret plan to develop nuclear weapons.

“I’m saying that a state which adopted a nontransparent policy and had a secret plan for developing nuclear weapons could easily develop an alternative plan for the same purpose. So to conclude from the intelligence report that there is no Iranian plan to develop nuclear weapons will be only a partial truth.”

Israeli security officials believe the only way to prevent uranium enrichment to military grade is to destroy Iranian installations. Many Israelis are eager to know whether America would give their country the green light to attack, as it did last September when Israel struck a mysterious nuclear site in Syria.

Bush refused to be drawn when asked whether he would support an Israeli attack. “My message to all countries in the region is that we are able to solve the problem in a diplomatic way,” he said, “but all options are on the table.”

We should try to watch what this President has planned for America before his time is over next year. He is still making decisions and they are all ways the wrong decision that cost American lives.

This Declaration is the first step in a three-step process that will normalize U.S.-Iraqi relations in a way which is consistent with Iraq's sovereignty and will help Iraq regain its rightful status in the international community – something both we and the Iraqis seek. The second step is the renewal of the Multinational Force-Iraq's Chapter VII United Nations mandate for a final year, followed by the third step, the negotiation of the detailed arrangements that will codify our bilateral relationship after the Chapter VII mandate expires.

The U.S. and Iraq will negotiate another year-long United Nations mandate for foreign troops in Iraq, which will expire (I think) in late December 2008. According to today's declaration, following the forthcoming renewal at the U.N., "we will begin negotiation of a framework that will govern the future of our bilateral relationship." That means that during Bush's last year in office, the administration will work out the terms of the U.S.'s stay in Iraq in order to, at the very least, seriously constrain the next administration's options for ending the U.S. presence. Even if Bush doesn't take the audacious step of signing a so-called Status of Forces Agreement -- the basic document for garrisoning U.S. forces on foreign soil -- while he's a lame duck, the simple fact of negotiations will create a diplomatic expectation that his successor will find difficult to reverse.

Miss Sherry Williams defends Halliburton's business dealings in Iran which began in 1978 long before sanctions against the country were enacted.

The construction and services company KBR, formally known as Kellogg, Brown and Root and a subsidiary of oil-services giant Halliburton until April, topped the list with more than 16 billion dollars in US contracts from 2004 to 2006.

Halliburton was led from 1995 to 2000 by Vice President Dick Cheney, one of the most hawkish voices in the administration of President George W. Bush in the run-up to the 2003 invasion of Iraq.

Miss Williams was asked questions by Senator Byron Doron, who lets everyone know that Cheney still receives money from said company. I recall Pelosi being jumped all over for making a trip to Syria, a country our President deems a terrorist country.

How and why does our President and the Republican party not jump all over Vice President Cheney for receiving money from a company that was still dealing with Iran, another country our President has deemed a terrorist country?

Ms. Sherry Williams, Vice President and Corporate Secretary of Halliburton Company, says that Halliburton has followed U.S. law, will continue to follow it, and believes that it is the job of Congress to set foreign policy. She fails to mention that during the periods of said business with Iran, our Congress was run by a majority of Republicans. It gets worse!

Senator Sherrod Brown proceed to ask Ms. Williams questions and wonder why Halliburton could not follow the President and the Conservative loud lead of everyone having Patriotism and showing it.

One question America, why hasn't anyone question the patriotism of Vice President Cheney for continuing to accept money from such a company and where's the Patriotism of the President for allowing Halliburton to continue with their contracts in Iraq and Afghanistan?

In an appearance on CNN’s “Larry King Live” in March, the day Libby was found guilty, McClellan said Bush did not originally know about the involvement by his aides.

McClellan told King: “I spoke with those individuals, … and those individuals assured me they were not involved in this. … said what I believed to be true at the time. It was also what the president believed to be true at the time based on assurances that we were both given. Knowing what I know today, I would have never said that back then.”

They lied to us to cover up the fact that America went to war on false pretense and outed a CIA operative, which is treason. Should Congress now have the nerve to place impeachment back on the table?

President Bush Shows True Nature With Tantrum!

Yes America, our President has shown when he does not get what he wants, like a little spoiled child. He throws a tantrum. He has blamed our Democratic Congress of dong nothing, he has blamed our Senate of trying to withdraw and put our troops in harms way.

To be honest with our President, he should first know that he's the guy who has the power to veto any bill sent him by the Congress and yes, he has shown this power as we all are well aware of.

To my surprise as well, our Congress last week held its 943rd roll call vote of the year, breaking the previous record of 942 votes, a mark set in 1978. The vote was on a procedural motion related to a mortgage foreclosure bill. When the House adjourned on Oct. 4 for the long weekend, the chamber had reached 948 roll call votes, putting Democrats on pace to easily eclipse 1,000 votes on the House floor in 2007.

Mr. President you should know Democrats in the Senate have trouble mustering 60 votes; they've fallen short 22 times so far this year. That is largely why they have not been able to deliver on their campaign promises. So it seems they are trying to do their job, but your Republican party Senators are impeding this process by blocking Democratic bids, you know with those darn filibusters and just not allowing the Senate to do anything with delaying tactics.

We see what a spoiled President, who is use to Republicans giving him exactly what he wanted when they were in charged of both House and Senate. He cannot seem to handle rejection and start to blame all in his path with his tantrum type of scene.

About 30 million low-income American households who will need help paying heating bills this winter from a U.S. government program will be left in the cold because of a lack of funding for the program.

The poor, already digging deep to pay for expensive gasoline, also will face much higher heating fuel costs, especially if oil prices stay near record levels.

Consumer groups and state energy officials have sounded the alarm, saying a federal program to help poor families pay heating bills will have nowhere near the money needed to cover those expected to seek assistance...

Still, the administration did not back away from its threat to veto legislation to boost funding for LIHEAP to levels it has called too high.

LIHEAP has an interim annual budget of $2.16 billion, but the White House wants to cut the program to $1.78 billion for the 2008 spending year that began on October 1.

The House of Representatives has passed legislation to boost the program to $2.66 billion, while a Senate committee has cleared a bill keeping LIHEAP at its current $2.16 billion budget.

We are already looking at another veto of the SCHIP bill that this President has promised us. Now we are looking at the possible veto of the heating bill for low income families.

Just maybe if this President started to spend less on his war, he would do more for the people of this country. Tell me what is right America, should the government stop using our tax dollars to take care of our children healthcare and the poor people heat in the winter? Does the government spend too much of Americans tax dollar helping the poor, when it should be spent to defend our country?

If You're Not For The Troops, You're Against Them

Thanks to Tom Harper at Who Hijacked Our Country, It has been brought to my attention that the SCHIP was not only to provide Health Care for our countries children. It was also to provide help for our wounded in Iraq and Afghanistan.

President Bush logic here is that expanding funding for the popular State Child Health Insurance Plan would mean that more people than those living in rock-bottom poverty might get access to government-subsidized healthcare, and that would be a grievous wrong. He contends that only kids born into the most desperate poverty should get help outside of private, market-priced insurance--whether they can afford it or not.

An unknown fact is that Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton joined with Senator Christopher Dodd and a bipartisan coalition of Senators to introduce an amendment to the SCHIP bill which would extend the Family and Medical Leave Act to family members of wounded soldiers to six months. The bipartisan Support for Injured Servicemembers Act was also cosponsored by Senators Dole, Graham, Mikulski, Chambliss, Brown, Salazar, Cardin, Menendez, Kennedy, Boxer, Reed, Murray, Harkin and Lieberman.

The House needed two-thirds of those voting to support the bill. The vote was 229 Democrats and 44 Republicans for overriding the veto, and 154 Republicans, and two Democrats for the veto.

I hear people on C-Span talking about how they raised their kids and never needed help from such programs and the government. I say to them hurray for you, but families today need such help, with the cost of insurance and Medical expenses.

How can anyone deny our kids this type of help and say that they are for "US"? How can you be for "US", when you are telling those that make too much to be on the program, but not enough to pay for the high cost of insurance, that it's best that they lose all to pay for surgery, hospital stay and regular medical bills that come from our children going to a hospital in this country today.

Where's our heart America? Where's our compassion and where's our love for one another in this country? Are we to say that American's love a party and a man, more than the people as a whole now?

In California and other States, the people have voted and the States have made Medical Marijuana legal for use with certain illness. The Federal government looks at the sell and use very differently and are putting a stop to such sell and use.

Democrats enlisted 12-year-old Graeme Frost, who along with a younger sister relied on the program for treatment of severe brain injuries suffered in a car crash, to give the response to Bush's weekly radio address earlier this month, Republican opponents quickly accused them of exploiting the boy to score political points. Then, they wasted little time in going after him to score their own.

In recent days, Graeme and his family have been attacked by conservative bloggers and other critics of the Democrats' plan to expand the insurance program, known as SCHIP. They scrutinized the family's income and assets - even alleged the counters in their kitchen to be granite - and declared that they did not seem needy enough for government benefits.

The critics accused Graeme's father, Halsey, a self-employed woodworker, of choosing not to provide insurance for his family of six, even though he owned his own business. They pointed out that Graeme attended an expensive private school. And they asserted that the family's home had undergone extensive remodeling, and asserted that its market value could exceed $400,000.
One critic, in an e-mail message to Graeme's mother, Bonnie, warned: "Lie down with dogs, and expect to get fleas."

As it turns out, the Frosts say, Graeme attends the private school on scholarship. The business that the critics said Halsey Frost owned was dissolved in 1999. The family's home, in the modest Butchers Hill neighborhood of Baltimore, was purchased for $55,000 in 1990 and is now worth about $260,000, according to public records. And, for the record, the Frosts say, the kitchen counters are concrete.

The Frosts also own a commercial property, valued at about $160,000 that provides some rental income. Halsey Frost now works intermittently in woodworking and as a welder, while Bonnie Frost has a part-time administrative job at a firm that provides services to publishers of medical journals. Her job does not provide health coverage.

Democrats, including House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, have risen to the Frosts' defense, saying the family earns about $45,000 a year and are precisely the type of working-poor Americans that the program was intended to help.

Pelosi on Tuesday said, "I think it's really a sad statement about how bankrupt some of these people are in their arguments against SCHIP that they would attack a 12-year-old boy."

The House and Senate approved legislation that would expand the child health program by $35 billion over five years. Bush, who proposed a more modest increase, vetoed the bill last week. Bush said the Democrats' plan was fiscally unsound; the Democrats say Bush is willing to spend billions on the Iraq war but not on health care for American children.

Tomorrow our President will most certainly veto this bill and send it back to the House. To overturn a presidential veto, both chambers of Congress must produce two-thirds majorities. The 159 House votes opposing the SCHIP bill should give Bush enough cushion to sustain his veto, as House leaders expect few members to switch positions. Pelosi and the House needs 290 votes to override President Bush's veto.

The bill would cover four million children, in addition to the 6.6 million already enrolled. The overwhelming majority of those on the rolls are in low-income families.

The bill will renew the child health program for five years, with a total of $60 billion, which is $35 billion more than the current level of spending. The additional cost would be financed by increasing the federal excise tax on cigarettes by 61 cents, to $1 a pack.

Dennis Kucinich explains his vote by saying the bill doesn't adequately address the needs of legal immigrant children, so he's going to deny healthcare coverage to a few million other children. Which brings up another question in the debate for SCHIP.

He now states, the comment followed a discussion of Jesse Macbeth, an anti-war activist who pleaded guilty to one count of making false statements to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs for pretending to be an injured Iraq war veteran.

Saddam Hussein Was Prepared To Go Into Exile?

Saddam Hussein was prepared to take $1 billion and go into exile before the Iraq war, according to a transcript of talks between U.S. President George W. Bush and an ally, Spanish newspaper El Pais reported on Wednesday.

During a meeting at his ranch in Crawford, Texas, on February 22, 2003, Bush told former Spanish Prime Minister Jose Maria Aznar that Saddam could also be assassinated, according to the transcript published in El Pais in Spanish.

The Egyptians are speaking to Saddam Hussein. It seems he's indicated he would be prepared to go into exile if he's allowed to take $1 billion and all the information he wants about weapons of mass destruction," Bush was quoted as saying at the meeting one month before the U.S.-led invasion.

Asked by Aznar whether Saddam could really leave, Bush replied: "Yes, that possibility exists. Or he might even be assassinated."

Spokesperson Dana Perino was asked about the transcript published this week by the Spanish newspaper El Pais. It purports to be from a meeting just before the U.S. invasion of Iraq between President Bush and the prime minister of Spain. In it, President Bush is clearly set on a path for war, although he denied so publicly at the time.

Perino was mostly non-responsive to the questions, but notably the White House did not dispute the authenticity of the transcript:

Could it be that Bush could have avoided a war with Iraq, had he just given Saddam Hussein a one way ticket out of Iraq with $1 billion dollars? Just think we have spent more with this war, not to mention the men and women of both America and Iraq, who are dead or wounded.

My dear Rep. Nancy Pelosi, what now are you waiting for? Do we need to impeached you? How can America, be it conservative or liberal, still allow this man to occupy and office which he has caused unnecessary death, when Iraq would have been handle with respect and dignity to all concerned had America had a Kerry or Gore in the White House. Just think of all the lives lost or messed up because of this mans decisions. We should not just pass this by as rhetoric, like so many other things we have just let go by because of the necons, and the Republican party siding with this president.

"I've always said that impeachment is off the table," I think I can say that most Americans are saying, well put it back on the table. That's what we voted for and made it possible for her to become the House Leader.

She started by saying this is the President, the Vice President and now the Republican Congress war. She blamed the Senate as being closely divided and claimed she did not have the political clout or Constitutional authority to unilaterally cut war funding.

What then is her role as House leader? What exactly can she do about said war? Yes, it is true that the Senate can be stopped because of 60 votes needed to over ride the President. The House, may I remind the Congresswoman, has the majority and can set which bills will go to the Senate for a vote or vice versa.

She stated, the House could simply cut off funding for the war. "I certainly could do that. That doesn't bar the minority from bringing up a funding resolution. They have their parliamentary prerogatives as well."

The president vetoed a bill that called for troop redeployment earlier this year, and Pelosi blamed Republicans in the Senate for blocking any bills that attempted to change course in Iraq, such as a recent measure that would have guaranteed troops as much time out at home as they spent at war. It failed to receive a necessary 60 votes to move out of the Senate. So yes, she does have a point, but to not even try and blame it on not haveing the political clout or Constitutional authority to unilaterally cut war funding or anything else the Senate oppose is just not trying and giving up the fight. I'm sure that's not what Americans sent her there to do.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s leadership team has charged a band of mostly centrist members with recommending a House Iraq strategy, pushing for the lower chamber to be the source of bipartisan action on the war. Shouldn't that have been done after she saw this President veto the bill to withdraw troops from Iraq?

We know that it is hard to get any bill pass the Senate, because we the voters failed to place more Democrats in that branch of government to do the people will. We have left enough Republicans in the Senate who are going to anything and everything they can to keep their President policies on Iraq alive.

What is it that Rep. Nancy Pelosi can do to archive the withdrawal of our troops from Iraq?

Let me first say, I know that this is a long post. I just hope that some will read it entirely.

America is working to build a wall at the border of Mexico, to keep illegal immigrants out. My question to the wall being built is this. Just who will build the wall?

We hire Mexicans to build our homes, upkeep our lawns, work in our Agriculture fields, clean our homes and even baby sit our children.

Maybe with the health care proposal Hillary Clinton has on the table, if she is elected President. Maybe some want mind so much about Mexicans being in America.

Thanks to the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, California and Texas that once belong to Mexico, was signed over to America, including New Mexico.

I said this to point out how America is supposed to be a country of immigrants. My Great Grandmother was a Creek Indian. I am not going to lecture the fact that America belongs to the Indians and the fact that they are not complaining about Mexicans or anyone else being in this country.

How is it that our ancestors came here from all parts of the world, yet some Americans feel that any other race that is here, are here to serve them and is less of a person because of their skin color?

Which brings me to Jena 6. I know most, if not all America has heard about the problems in that small community. If not, the below video will inform the reader about what happen in Jena, Louisiana.

The trouble started under “the white tree” in front of Jena High School. The “white tree” is where the white students, 80 percent of the student body, would always sit during school breaks.

In September 2006, a Black student at Jena High School asked permission from school administrators to sit under the “white tree.” School officials advised them to sit wherever they wanted. They did.

The next day, three nooses, in the school colors, were hanging from the “white tree.” The message was clear. “Those nooses meant the KKK, they meant ‘ … we’re going to kill you, we’re going to hang you till you die,’” Casteptla Bailey, mom of one of the students, told the London Observer.

The Jena High School principal found that three white students were responsible and recommended expulsion. The white superintendent of schools overruled the principal and gave the students a three day suspension saying that the nooses were just a youthful stunt. “Adolescents play pranks,” the superintendent told the Chicago Tribune. “I don’t think it was a threat against anybody.”

Black students decided to resist and organized a sit-in under the “white tree” at the school to protest the light suspensions given to the noose-hanging white students.

The white district attorney then came to Jena High with law enforcement officers to address a school assembly. According to testimony in a later motion in court, the DA reportedly threatened the Black protesting students saying that if they didn’t stop making a fuss about this “innocent prank… I can be your best friend or your worst enemy. I can take away your lives with a stroke of my pen.” The school was put on lockdown for the rest of the week.

On the night of Thursday, Nov. 30, 2006, a still unsolved fire burned down the main academic building of Jena High School.

On Friday night, Dec. 1, a Black student who showed up at a white party was beaten by whites. On Saturday, Dec. 2, a young white man pulled out a shotgun in a confrontation with young Black men at the Gotta Go convenience store outside Jena before the men wrestled it away from him. The Black men who took the shotgun away were later arrested. No charges were filed against the white man.

On Monday, Dec. 4, at Jena High, a white student — who allegedly had been making racial taunts, including calling African American students “n———” while supporting the students who hung the nooses and who beat up the Black student at the off-campus party — was knocked down, punched and kicked by Black students. The white victim was taken to the hospital treated and released. He attended a social function that evening.

Six Black Jena students were arrested and charged with attempted second degree murder. All six were expelled from school.

The six charged were: 17-year-old Robert Bailey Jr., whose bail was set at $138,000; 17-year-old Theo Shaw — bail $130,000; 18-year-old Carwin Jones — bail $100,000; 17-year-old Bryant Purvis — bail $70,000; Mychal Bell, a sophomore in high school who was charged as an adult and for whom bail was set at $90,000; and a still unidentified minor.

Many of the young men, who came to be known as the Jena 6, stayed in jail for months. Few families could afford bond or private attorneys.

Mychal Bell remained in jail from December 2006 until his trial because his family was unable to post the $90,000 bond. Theo Shaw has also remained in jail. Several of the other defendants remained in jail for months until their families could raise sufficient money to put up bonds.

On the morning of the trial, the DA reduced the charges from attempted second-degree murder to second-degree aggravated battery and conspiracy. Aggravated battery in Louisiana law demands the attack be with a dangerous weapon. The dangerous weapon? The prosecutor was allowed to argue to the jury that the tennis shoes worn by Bell could be considered a dangerous weapon used by “the gang of Black boys” who beat the white victim.

Most shocking of all, when the pool of potential jurors was summoned, 50 people appeared — every single one of them white.

The LaSalle Parish clerk defended the all-white group to the Alexandria Louisiana Town Talk newspaper, saying that the jury pool was selected by computer. “The venire [panel of prospective jurors] is color blind. The idea is for the list to truly reflect the racial makeup of the community, but the system does not take race into factor.” Officials said they had summoned 150 people, but these were the only people who showed up.

The all-white jury which was finally chosen included two people friendly with the district attorney, a relative of one of the witnesses and several others who were friends of prosecution witnesses.

The jury deliberated for less than three hours and found Mychal Bell guilty on the maximum possible charges of aggravated second- degree battery and conspiracy. He faces up to a maximum of 22 years in prison.

What happened to the white guys? The white victim of the beating was later arrested for bringing a hunting rifle loaded with 13 bullets onto the high school campus and released on $5,000 bond. The white man who beat up the Black youth at the off-campus party was arrested and charged with simple battery. The white students who hung up the nooses in the “white tree” were never charged.

This all brought a march in Jena, Louisiana last week with patisipants from all around the country. The video below details what happen after the march.

A teenager was arrested Thursday when police allegedly found hangman's nooses dangling from the rear of his pickup truck after he drove past a crowd of people who had attended a civil rights march earlier in the day.

The incident in Alexandria, La., took place only hours after tens of thousands of civil rights marchers demonstrated in nearby Jena on behalf of six teens charged with beating a white schoolmate at Jena High School.

Jeremiah Munsen, 18, of Colfax, La., and a 16-year-old passenger in his truck were arrested Thursday night near a bus station where a group of people who had marched in Jena were waiting for buses to take them home.

One of the Grant Parish teenagers arrested Thursday night in connection with a red pickup truck driving through downtown Alexandria with nooses tied to it was released on bond from the Rapides Parish jail Friday morning.

Jeremiah Munsen, 18 of Colfax, had his bond set at $1,670 after being charged with driving while intoxicated, inciting to riot and contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile, according to an Alexandria Police Department report.

The 16-year-old, who was being held in a juvenile detention facility Friday, told police he had a "KKK" tattoo on his chest and said some of his relatives were involved in the Ku Klux Klan, according to a police report.

Officers found an unloaded .22-caliber rifle and a set of brass knuckles in Munsen's truck, police said.

Nooses figured into the controversy that drew tens of thousands of people to Jena, a small town about 40 miles northeast of Alexandria.

On Friday a request that Mychal Bell the black teenager arrested in the beating of a white youth be released from jail was denied.

The only one of the six yet to stand trial. Mr. Bell was convicted of aggravated second-degree battery this summer, but the conviction was thrown out last week by a Louisiana appeals court, which ruled that he had been mistakenly tried as an adult.

America cannot continue to allow such behavior by its Justice System, to deny equal justice and protection for all its people. It cannot continue to allow racism, as shown in Jena, to occur over and over, then claim this is just one instance. It's one instance too many and it must stop.

We cant continue to call America, the Land of the free, when we want walls built to keep out the people that produce the very food we eat. We cannot continue to call America, the Land of the free, when we attack and abuse a race of people with racism, simply because of their skin color. Right is right and wrong is wrong and America has been wrong for a long time now.

Bill Maher, talked with Wolf Blitzer, in the Situation Room about the war in Iraq, President Bush and Gen Petraeus, the reasons the Democrats have failed to bring a stop to Iraq, Sen Larry Craig skit on his show, Real Time and a host of other topics.

Bill brought the truth out about the Democrats not being able to stop this war, simply because they just do not have enough votes to do so. He suggests that we go back to the voting booths and elect more Democrats to office to make changes with their votes.

Bill Maher discussed the MoveOn ad, and how the Republicans brought up Hillary Clinton, in the middle of the situation to keep all concentration away from President Bush and General Petraeus. The surge and the report by General Petraeus was nothing more than a Bush doctrine. Most, if not all Democrats already knew what his report would be about and as always, the President and his hand pick people, did not let us down.

President Bush and General Petraeus lied to America, when they said, they would be withdrawing 30,000 troops by the end of next Summer. It's a law and a fact that 30,000 troops that will be coming home next Summer is legally bound to come home without any act by General Petraeus or President Bush.

We cannot continue to allow our leaders to think that we are ignorant to the point that we cannot know a lie when they tell them. I for one, am sick of such insults.

Bush Will Push This War Until He's Out Of Office

Reductions in violence form the centerpiece of the Bush administration's claim that its war strategy is working.

Army Gen. David H. Petraeus has indicated a willingness to consider a drawdown of one brigade of between 3,500 and 4,500 U.S. troops from Iraq early next year, with more to follow over the next months based on conditions on the ground, according to a senior U.S. official.

A senior military officer in Iraq said there will be no written presentation to the president on security and stability in Iraq. “There is no report. It is an assessment provided by them by testimony,” the officer said.

The only hard copy will be Gen. Petraeus’ opening statement to Congress, scheduled for Monday, along with any charts he will use in explaining the results of the troop surge in Baghdad over the past several months.

The GAO report found that "average number of daily attacks against civilians have remained unchanged from February to July 2007," a conclusion that the military said was skewed because it did not include dramatic, up-to-date information from August. In other words, it did not say what the Bush Administration wanted to hear.

Gen. Jones: ‘Yes,’ we can begin to withdraw from Iraq. In a House Armed Services Committee hearing this afternoon, Chairman Ike Skelton (D-MO) asked Gen. James Jones to comment on his report’s recommendation that the U.S. should reduce its footprint in Iraq. The Jones report suggests “significant reductions” in the “size of our national footprint in Iraq.” Skelton asked Jones if this is a call to reduce troop levels, and Jones answered yes.

The pullouts would be contingent on the ability of U.S. and Iraqi forces to sustain what the administration heralds as recent gains in security and to make further gains in stabilizing Iraq.

What it comes down to for this Administration is a fact, that Bush will keep the troops in Iraq until he has left office. Leaving or passing the Iraq mess on to the next President and Mr. Bush will be a former President out of office making millions on speeches.

Meanwhile America, with the right President, House and Senate, will try to undo the damage the former President, and the former Republican House and Senate made. This will probably last for the next ten (10), or 15 years before this country is out of the red. It seems everything this President has ever done, has ended in failure.

And so he is back from his annual surprise gratuitous photo-op in Iraq, and what a sorry spectacle it was. But it was nothing compared to the spectacle of one unfiltered, unguarded, horrifying quotation in the new biography to which Mr. Bush has consented.

As he deceived the troops at Al-Asad Air Base yesterday with the tantalizing prospect that some of them might not have to risk being killed and might get to go home, Mr. Bush probably did not know that, with his own words, he had already proved that he had been lying, is lying and will be lying about Iraq.

He presumably did not know that there had already appeared those damning excerpts from Robert Draper's book “Dead Certain."

“I'm playing for October-November," Mr. Bush said to Draper. That, evidently, is the time during which, he thinks he can sell us the real plan, which is “to get us in a position where the presidential candidates will be comfortable about sustaining a presence."

Comfortable, that is, with saying about Iraq, again quoting the President, “stay... longer."

And there it is. We've caught you. Your goal is not to bring some troops home, maybe, if we let you have your way now. Your goal is not to set the stage for eventual withdrawal. You are, to use your own disrespectful, tone-deaf word, playing at getting the next Republican nominee to agree to jump into this bottomless pit with you, and take us with him, as we stay in Iraq for another year, and another, and another, and anon.

Everything you said about Iraq yesterday, and everything you will say, is a deception, for the purpose of this one cynical, unacceptable, brutal goal: perpetuating this war indefinitely.

War today, war tomorrow, war forever!

And you are playing at it! Playing!

A man with any self respect, having inadvertently revealed such an evil secret, would have already resigned and fled the country! You have no remaining credibility about Iraq.

And yet, yesterday at Al-Asad, Mr. Bush kept playing, and this time, using the second of his two faces.

The president told reporters, “They (General Petraeus and Ambassador Crocker) tell me if the kind of success we are now seeing continues, it will be possible to maintain the same level of security with fewer American forces."

And so, Mr. Bush got his fraudulent headlines today. “Bush May Bring Some Troops Home."

While the reality is, we know from what he told Draper, that the president's true hope is that they will not come home; but that they will stay there, because he is keeping them there now, in hope that those from his political party fighting to succeed him will prolong this unendurable disaster into the next decade.

But, to a country dying of thirst, the president seemed to vaguely promise a drink from a full canteen -- a promise predicated on the assumption that he is not lying.

Yet you are lying, Mr. Bush. Again. But now, we know why.

You gave away more of yourself than you knew in the Draper book. And you gave away more still, on the arduous trip back out of Iraq hours in the air, without so much as a single vacation.

“If you look at my comments over the past eight months," you told reporters, “it's gone from a security situation in the sense that we're either going to get out and there will be chaos, or, more troops. Now, the situation has changed, where I'm able to speculate on the hypothetical."

Mr. Bush, the only "hypothetical" here is that you are not now holding our troops hostage. You have no intention of withdrawing them. But that doesn't mean you can't pretend you're thinking about it, does it?

That is your genius as you see it, anyway. You can deduce what we want. We, the people, remember us? And then use it against us.

You can hold that canteen up and promise it to the parched nation. And the untold number of Americans whose lives have not been directly blighted by Iraq or who do not realize that their safety has been reduced and not increased by Iraq, they will get the bullet points: "Bush is thinking about bringing some troops home. Bush even went to Iraq."

You can fool some of the people all of the time, can't you, Mr. Bush? You are playing us!

And as for the most immediate victims of the president's perfidy and shameless manipulation of those troops -- yesterday sweating literally as he spoke at Al-Asad Air Base -- tonight, again sweating figuratively in The Valley Of The Shadow Of Death, the president saved, for them, the most egregious "playing" in the entire trip.

“I want to tell you this about the decision, about my decision about troop levels. Those decisions will be based on a calm assessment by our military commanders on the conditions on the ground, not a nervous reaction by Washington politicians to poll results in the media."

One must compliment Mr. Bush's writer. That, perhaps, was the mostly perfectly-crafted phrase of his presidency. For depraved indifference to democracy, for the craven projection of political motives onto those trying to save lives and save a nation, for a dismissal of the value of the polls and the importance of the media, for a summary of all he does not hold dear about this nation or its people nothing could top that.

As if you listened to all the "calm assessments" of our military commanders rather than firing the ones who dared say the emporer has no clothes, and the president, no judgment.

As if your entire presidency was not a “nervous reaction," and you yourself, nothing but a Washington politician.

As if “"he media" does not largely divide into those parts your minions are playing, and those others who unthinkingly and uncritically serve as your echo chamber, at a time when the nation's future may depend on the airing of dissent.

And as if those polls were not so overwhelming, and not so clearly reflective of the nation's agony and the nation's insistence.

But this president has ceased to listen. This president has decided that night is day, and death is life, and enraging the world against us is safety. And this laziest of presidents, actually interrupted his precious time off to fly to Iraq to play at a photo opportunity with soldiers, some of whom will on his orders be killed before the year maybe the month is out.

Just over 500 days remain in this presidency. Consider the dead who have piled up on the battlefield in these last 500 days.

Consider the singular fraudulence of this president's trip to Iraq yesterday, and the singular fraudulence of the selling of the Petraeus Report in these last 500 days.

Consider how this president has torn away at the fabric of this nation in a manner of which terrorists can only dream in these last 500 days.

And consider again how this president has spoken to that biographer: that he is “playing for October-November." The goal in Iraq is “to get us in a position where the presidential candidates will be comfortable about sustaining a presence." Consider how this revelation contradicts every other rationale he has offered in these last 500 days.

In the context of all that now, consider these next 500 days.

Mr. Bush, our presence in Iraq must end. Even if it means your resignation. Even if it means your impeachment. Even if it means a different Republican to serve out your term. Even if it means a Democratic Congress and those true patriots among the Republicans standing up and denying you another penny for Iraq, other than for the safety and the safe conduct home of our troops.

This country cannot run the risk of what you can still do to this country in the next 500 days.

Not while you are playing.

Rep. John Conyers declared House Speaker Nancy Pelosi could not stop him from beginning impeachment proceedings in the House Judiciary Committee against a 'long list of people'in the Bush administration, although he did not make a firm commitment to begin proceedings.

"Nancy Pelosi has impeachment 'off the table,' but that's off her table, it is not off John Conyers' table," the Michigan Democrat said during a town hall meeting in his district Tuesday. "Nancy Pelosi, who I actually supported, cannot prevent me from introducing an impeachment resolution against, well I've got a long list of people who are eligible."

Starting this September, hundreds of impeachment activists are expected to descend on Pelosi's office next month to pressure the House Speaker to allow impeachment proceedings.

Just maybe someone will persuade Conyers or Pelosie to do what the American citizens want for a change and start impeachment of this administration before it's too late.

Now we know how and why this President signed a directive granting extraordinary powers to the office of the president in the event of a declared national emergency, apparently without congressional approval or oversight.

The "National Security and Homeland Security Presidential Directive" was signed May 9, by executive order.

This is just one way President Bush has gotten his way, just as we were told by Senator Leahy that "In fact, we were about to issue subpoenas then and one of the senators came to our meeting and said that the vice president had met with the Republican senators and told them they were not allowed to issue subpoenas.

Remember President Bush already has an executive order that allows him to confiscate property of anyone who commits acts of violence threatening the peace and stability of Iraq and undermining efforts to promote economic reconstruction and political reform in Iraq and to provide humanitarian assistance to the Iraqi people.

President Bush has entrusted himself with leading the entire federal government, not just the Executive Branch. And he gives himself the responsibility for ensuring constitutional government. With rumors of war with Iran and talks of terrorist attacks again in America. If a catastrophic emergency occurs during Bush's watch, he's in charge for as long as he wish. Is that called being a dictator?

A group of House Democrats will introduce a resolution calling on the Judiciary Committee to begin impeachment proceedings against Attorney General Alberto Gonzales.

Rep. Jay Inslee (D-WA) will sponsor the measure. It will be dropped in the hopper tomorrow. Finally a bold move by a Congressman to stop this nightmare of lies that has filled the halls of our House and Senate.

Here's the text of resolution...

RESOLUTION
Directing the Committee on the Judiciary to investigate whether Alberto R. Gonzales, Attorney General of the United States, should be impeached for high crimes and
misdemeanors.
1 Resolved, That the Committee on the Judiciary shall
2 investigate fully whether sufficient grounds exist for the
3 House of Representatives to impeach Alberto R. Gonzales,
4 Attorney General of the United States, for high crimes
5 and misdemeanors.

There's also the Four Senate Democrats who have asked for a special counsel to determine whether Gonzales was truthful when he testified about a warrantless domestic spying program and the dismissals of nine U.S. attorneys

Solicitor General Paul D. Clement who clerked for Associate Justice Antonin Scalia of the U.S. Supreme Court has been asked to handle the criminal contempt citations.

Committee chairman, Sen. Patrick Leahy, D-Vt. and the panel's top Republican, Sen. Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania did not sign the letter. Leahy has given Gonzales until Friday to correct or clarify his testimony. Specter said a perjury investigation is premature.

Attorney General Gonzales looks as though he might be gone within a few weeks because he has the following awaiting his statement Friday about his testimony:

1. Possible appointment of a special prosecutor to handle the criminal contempt
citations.

2. Possible switch to civil contempt proceedings.

3. Impeachment, or inherent contempt proceedings.

Documents indicate eight congressional leaders were briefed about the Bush administration's terrorist surveillance program on the eve of its expiration in 2004, contradicting sworn Senate testimony this week by Attorney General Alberto Gonzales.
The documents underscore questions about Gonzales' credibility as senators consider whether a perjury investigation should be opened into conflicting accounts about the program and a dramatic March 2004 confrontation leading up to its potentially illegal reauthorization.

Gonzales, who was then serving as counsel to Bush, testified that the White House Situation Room briefing sought to inform congressional leaders about the pending expiration of the unidentified program and Justice Department objections to renew it. Those objections were led by then-Deputy Attorney General Jim Comey, who questioned the program's legality.

"The dissent related to other intelligence activities," Gonzales testified at Tuesday's hearing. "The dissent was not about the terrorist surveillance program."

"Not the TSP?" responded Sen. Charles E. Schumer, D-N.Y. "Come on. If you say it's about other, that implies not. Now say it or not."

"It was not," Gonzales answered. "It was about other intelligence activities."

A four-page memo from the national intelligence director's office says the White House briefing with the eight lawmakers on March 10, 2004, was about the terror surveillance program, or TSP.

The memo, dated May 17, 2006, and addressed to then-House Speaker Dennis Hastert, details "the classification of the dates, locations, and names of members of Congress who attended briefings on the Terrorist Surveillance Program," wrote then-Director of National Intelligence John Negroponte.

It shows that the briefing in March 2004 was attended by the Republican and Democratic House and Senate leaders and leading members of both chambers' intelligence committees, as Gonzales testified.

Schumer called the memo evidence that Gonzales was not truthful in his testimony.

"It seemed clear to just about everyone on the committee that the attorney general was deceiving us when he said the dissent was about other intelligence activities and this memo is even more evidence that helps confirm our suspicions," Schumer said.

Senator Leahy made it clear that if it turns out there were inaccuracies in Gonzales testimony he would would refer the matter to the Inspector General and the appropriate action would be taken.

The Pentagon told Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Rodham Clinton that her questions about how the U.S. plans to eventually withdraw from Iraq boosts enemy propaganda.

In a stinging rebuke to a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, Undersecretary of Defense Eric Edelman responded to questions Clinton raised in May in which she urged the Pentagon to start planning now for the withdrawal of American forces.

A copy of Edelman's response, dated July 16, was obtained Thursday by The Associated Press.

"Premature and public discussion of the withdrawal of U.S. forces from Iraq reinforces enemy propaganda that the United States will abandon its allies in Iraq, much as we are perceived to have done in Vietnam, Lebanon and Somalia," Edelman wrote.

He added that "such talk understandably unnerves the very same Iraqi allies we are asking to assume enormous personal risks."

Clinton spokesman Philippe Reines called the response "at once outrageous and dangerous."

"Redeploying out of Iraq with the same combination of arrogance and incompetence with which the Bush administration deployed our young men and women into Iraq is completely unacceptable, and our troops deserve far better," said Reines, who said military leaders should offer a withdrawal plan rather than "a political plan to attack those who question them."

Kerry jumped to Clinton's defense, deriding what he called smear tactics by the administration.

"They will say anything, do anything, and twist any truth to avoid accountability," said the Massachusetts senator.

Keith Olbermann put together a speech that sums up what this President and his administration has become and how they will be looked on in history.

Reid said today, “Because Republicans continue to block votes on important amendments to the Defense Authorization bill, we can make no further progress on Iraq and this bill at this time.

For these reasons, I have temporarily laid aside the Defense Authorization bill and have entered a motion to reconsider.

But let me be clear to my Republican colleagues — I emphasize the word “temporarily”. We will do everything in our power to change course in Iraq. We will do everything in our power to complete consideration of a Defense Authorization bill. We must do both.

Sens. John McCain (R-AZ) and Jon Kyl (R-AZ) raced to the television cameras this afternoon to offer hyperbolic attacks against Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, following Reid’s decision to pull the entire Defense Authorization bill from consideration. McCain and Kyl were quick to dishonestly politicize Reid’s maneuver, after obstructing passage of the bill over opposition to an Iraq redeployment amendment.

The Republicans have under minded legislation to support the troops, not allowing anything to be done about the troops, and stalled the bill to fund Walter Reed.

Remember the Neaclear Option, April 26, 2005, "GOP leaders are threatening a rule change to prohibit the use of filibusters to block judicial nominees and have stepped up their criticism of the Democrats for using the tactic on some of Bush's nominees to the federal appellate courts. They say they are prepared to invoke what has become known as the "nuclear option" to ensure that Bush's nominees receive an up-or-down vote on the Senate floor."

How can the Republicans cry wolf when they are in charge of the Senate, but fine it OK, when they are no longer in charge?

General Pace said the joint chiefs are developing their own report and thinking about another surge or a decrease in the Military troops in Iraq.

Reid accused conservatives of “protecting the President rather than protecting our troops” by “denying us an up or down vote on the most important issue our country faces.” He stated "We have no alternative except to keep them in session to explain their obstruction,"

Bush's Urge To Surge

I know I said that I would have my picks for the Schmooze Awards in my next post. Excuse me, but I had to post this story on Bush before it got old.

Bush has told lawmakers that they had no business trying to manage the war and warned that moving toward withdrawal now would risk "mass killings on a horrific scale." The Democrats, tired of Bush's tuff talk, responded by voting almost totally along party lines to require that the United States withdraw most combat troops from Iraq by April 1, 2008.

Even though the Democrats are trying to fight, there is just not much they can really do accept threaten this President. Since there are not 60 votes in the Senate, Bush will have his way.

What this should tell us is, we need more Democrats in the Senate really to make a difference. By the way the Bush administration has a new slogan...We need a surge of facts. This by Snow who said also "That's one of the things we're going to be working on."

Now comes the lie that Bushes are pushing, "The same folks that are bombing innocent people in Iraq," he said, "were the ones who attacked us in America on September the 11th, and that is why what happens in Iraq matters to the security here at home."

Are we deaf, dumb or crazy? I really would like for someone to answer this question. Has this President lost it with such lies?

Someone needs to tell this Delusional President that Nothing has gotten better in Iraq. Mr. Egghead, incidents have increased. We have had more Americans killed in the last four months than any other period during the war.

President Bush, facing new pressure to start bringing U.S. troops home from Iraq, said Tuesday he won't consider it until hearing a fresh assessment from his top commander there this fall.

"That's what the American people expect. They expect for military people to come back and tell us how the military operations are going," Bush said. "And that's the way I'm going to play it as commander in chief."

Gen. David Petraeus is due in September to present a progress report to Congress on the effects of the recently completed troop buildup in Iraq. Frustration in Congress among leaders of both parties has led to calls for changes in strategy before then.

"We see little evidence of reconciliation and little progress toward meeting the benchmarks laid out by the president," said McCain. A U.S. withdrawal, he said, would increase "the potential for genocide, wider war, spiraling oil prices and the perception of strategic American defeat."

McCain's comments contrasted with those of other Republican senators such as Lamar Alexander of Tennessee who said Tuesday that Bush "needs a new strategy" that is supported by more Americans.

Bush has already started to make excuses for the failed surge by stating, "We just started. We got all the troops there a couple of weeks ago," Bush told the Greater Cleveland Partnership, a coalition of Northeast Ohio companies.

Should we give this surge more time to work or do we start to bring our troops home. What say you?

Senate May Call Patrick Fitzgerald

Sen. Schumer said "I’ve spoken to Sen. Leahy about this and what we’re thinking of doing is calling Patrick Fitzgerald—the prosecutor before us….he did interview the President and Vice President…not before a grand jury and he might have some very interesting things to say."

The special prosecutor in the leak case, Patrick Fitzgerald, took issue with Bush's claim the prison term was excessive.

The question now is can they call Fitzgerald since Bush and Cheney weren’t under oath?

What say you?
